I really enjoy this book; the author really makes a point to show you that it doesn't have to be difficult to make your own baby food. Instead she explains that it is a rewarding experience that allows parents to make healthy nutritious food for their babies and toddlers. This book gives you the knowledge that you need to make creative foods with textures and good tastes instead of limiting your child to mass produced baby food. The first few chapters talk about why it is important to feed your child organic food, how to do so affordably, what tools you will need, and more information about healthy foods. Chapter four shows readers how to introduce pureed foods for the six to seventh month old with food recipes such as blushing bananas, simply sweet potato, and pumpkin patch puree. Chapter five introduces semi-smooth pureed food such as mashed potatoes, pumpkin crème pie (pumpkin, cream fraise, and graham crackers, yum), and quinoa. Chapter six is for babies about 10 to 12 months and introduces them to food with a chunky consistency such as black beans, citrus, strawberries, and rice cakes. The last chapter, introduces new flavors and textures for children 12 months and older. The recipes in this chapter sound delicious and include things such as sweet potato fries, blueberry pancakes, breakfast pizza, and more. I really like that this book gives step by step instructions. Each recipe tells you if it is freezer friendly, if it is instant (not needing cooked), if it contains any super-foods, and if it can be slightly adapted for the rest of the family. I also like the meal plans that the book suggests. They make it easy to plan a variety of meals for your little one. This book has awesome recipes and I recommend it for anyone trying to make your own baby food, whether it is for the first time or you just need some new ideas.

I purchased this book as I enjoy making quality homemade foods for my baby, and I was looking for a few new ideas to mix up her meals. However the book was a very dull read. Hardly any pictures at all. Everyone likes a cookbook with pictures! In addition I noticed that a few of her recipes called for sugar or agave nectar. There are many reasons that an infant should not be introduced to sugars. Primarily, they don't need it! If you want to sweeten a dish apples or other fruits can be added without giving your infant granulated sugars or syrups (of whatever health-conscious nature). She also mentions the ways too cook foods in order to keep the majority of their nutrients, then in her recipes completely goes against these suggestions. Her recipes will have you boil carrots when steaming would be the much healthier option.

I mainly use this book to look at the table of contents to give me ideas for a new mixture. I don't bother to read her recipes at all.

This book is great to add a little variety to a babies diet! It's so easy to get stuck in a rut and make the same things over and over. But with 201 different ideas, I can make so many different foods. I love the instructions, the focus on whole, organic foods, and the resource it is to have the healthiest baby possible!

I was so disappointed in this book! The first 50 recipes or so are one ingredient and water. Mix apples with water! Mix pears with water! The next 50 are combinations of the first 50. Mix apples AND pears with water!! It was useless. The back half of the book is like a cook book for idiots. If you don't know how to make spaghetti, buy this book. If you've mastered boiling water, you don't need this.

I liked this book. It has some valuable information along with 201 baby purees and some toddler meals. It tells you which purees you can freeze and which you should not. I made baby food for my first daughter and I wanted to do the same for my new little girl, but I couldn't remember what was safe to freeze and what was not. The reason for the four stars is because the author says it is necessary to give your infant cereal (rice or whatever) everyday. Infant cereal is ok for thickening purees, but it is in no way necessary for babies to have. It has very little nutritional value. But, overall, good information.

I did purchase the Kindle edition. No pictures, but I love being able to carry around lots of books in a smaller space than one book, so no pictures is worth it for me.
