Présentation de l'éditeur

"I loved this book! So helpful!" -- Courtney Milan, New York Times Best Selling author of The Governess Affair

"Have you ever wanted to double your daily word counts? Do you feel like you're crawling through your story, struggling for each paragraph? Would you like to get more words every day without increasing the time you spend writing or sacrificing quality? It's not impossible, it's not even that hard. This is the story of how, with a few simple changes, I boosted my daily writing from 2000 words to over 10k a day, and how you can, too."

Expanding on her highly successful process for doubling daily word counts, this book--a combination of reworked blog posts and new material--offers practical writing advice for anyone who’s ever longed to increase their daily writing output. In addition to updated information for Rachel’s popular 2k to 10k writing efficiency process, 5 step plotting method, and easy editing tips, this new book includes chapters on creating characters that write their own stories, story structure, and learning to love your daily writing. Full of easy to follow, practical advice from a commercial author who doesn't eat if she doesn't produce good books on a regular basis, 2k to 10k focuses not just on writing faster, but writing better, and having more fun while you do it.

*New for Fall 2013! This Revised Edition includes updates and corrections for all chapters!*

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent common sense advice! 13 mai 2013
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
I have to thank Rachel for clearly defining how to be a productive writer. I had already started to use some of the tips in the book before reading it, so was delighted to see that I was already well on course for success.

Clear and precise advice that any newbie or seasoned writer should be following.

I've already upped my you can too.

I hate saying this, so please forgive me, Rachel, you might want to read through one final time to catch the odd typo in the book.

Thanks for putting pen to paper and fingers to the keyboard and coming up with this invaluable tool.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Best Book On Writing Fiction I've Ever Seen 23 décembre 2012
Par Tom Corson-Knowles "Kindle Publishing Bible" - Publié sur
Format:Format Kindle
I write non-fiction books. It's all I've ever written (except a little bit of poetry and some short stories). But I was seriously considering writing a novel and so I decided to do some research. That's when I came across this book. So far, I've read 12 books on novel and fiction writing.

Out of all the books I've read, this is BY FAR the best (and for only 99cents, it put all those other books to shame). What the author shares about planning your writing ahead, planning your plot, and the simple process she uses is worth the price of all the books I bought and then some. Sometimes, the simplest ideas can have the biggest impact on your life.

The book is also full of other useful ideas and tips such as planning your editing ahead of time, proactively solving problems upfront through good planning rather than once you've wasted a lot of time writing a story that doesn't work and a lot more.

One thing that really stuck with me from this book is that you should only write what you love to write. If there's a word, a scene, a chapter or even a whole book you don't enjoy writing then stop! Throw it out (or just put it aside) and go work on writing something you love to write. Life's too short to spend time writing something you don't enjoy doing.

This book inspired me to start my first novel. I mapped out the whole plot and the scenes as the author suggested and by the time I was done, I had tears in my eye because I was so touched by the story I had created in less than an hour using this process. I can't tell you how grateful I am for this book!

It's not just great for fiction writers either! I've already started using some of these strategies for my non-fiction books and have noticed dramatic improvements in my writing speed, clarity and quality of my work because I'm even more excited about writing now.

If you're serious about writing or even considering it as a career or part-time work, you owe it to yourself to read this book!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Common Sense 11 octobre 2012

Every point made in this book is common sense. But when you look at what you are doing and follow the easy steps Rachel points out, you have success. I haven't gotten to the 10,000 word a day, and probably never will, but I have doubled my daily word count. And this is the pace I am happy with. I find I even have more focus on the days I am just editing and not writing. I believe that is due to me knowing when is the best time for me and being knowledgeable about what tasks I have coming up.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 If You Read the Blog Post, You've Read This Before 22 décembre 2012

The first part of the book (which is a copy of a blog post by the author some months ago) provides a good approach for analyzing and optimizing your day-to-day writing production. This section is worth the price of the ebook ($.99 as of this review). Or, maybe the original blog post is still out there, and you can find that and read it for free. Either way, I recommend it. You *can* write fast and write well. This will help you.

The rest of this book, though, is far less general and less useful. Also, I disagree with the author's contention that anytime you're struggling with enthusiasm it's because your current project is broken or you've picked the wrong project to work on right now. Follow that logic and you'll struggle to ever finish *anything*, much less a novel.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good but very specific to a certain writing style 12 octobre 2012

I'll admit upfront that the reason I bought this book was because of the section titled "If Writing Feels Like Pulling Teeth, You're Doing It Wrong," which was not quite what I thought it would be. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars, because even though the book doesn't fit me, it's full of good information for those writers who like to plan or those who are still finding their way to a method that works for them. If you don't, you're probably not going to find a lot useful here, unless you want to try more extensive planning for your book. I actually don't want to, so the book didn't hit the right spots for me (I have never enjoyed writing a book I've planned out in any depth in advance of writing, and the actionable advice in this book is built on preplanning).

The author writes so well that I couldn't help enjoying her perspective anyway, and I certainly think the book is under-priced for the value to a new writer or one still looking for a method that works.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good content, really bad editing 11 août 2013

I hate to knock off stars for editing, but there were at least two typos or grammar mistakes on every page. For a book about writing- with a whole section on editing!?!- this is tough to swallow.
