Polaroid photography has come to evoke the memories of the bygone eras. These photographs are the quintessential mementos, showing the signs of age and passage of time even more strongly than the film photography. Their raw intimacy is unsurpassed by any other photographic medium. They are very hard to manipulate, and in the age where even the family vacation photos are mercilessly photoshopped their authenticity comes as a breath of fresh air.Polaroids have also been an indispensable tool for photographers over the course of several decades. They were the first test-shots and were used to assess various lighting, makeup, and environmental conditions. This magnificent photography book is one such collection by Bruno Bisang, a renowned Swiss-born fashion photographer. The photographs in this book span over thirty years of his creative career, starting in the early 1980s and culminating with some photographs that were taken just a few years ago. Many of the photographs in this collection feature indelible marks of the passage of time: scratches, fingerprints, spots, imperfections, and faded areas. All of these are particularly accentuated when the polaroids are enlarged in order to fit the format of this book and they add to its overall charm and artistry. Most of the photographs have been taken in a studio or on a photo-shooting location, but there are also a few mock-journalistic gems. Some of the photographs have model's personal messages inscribed in the margins, and these too add to the overall sense of genuineness. The 200 plus pages of large format photographs are a remarkable feast of artistic vision and female beauty. The famous models in this book include Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, Carla Bruni, Ornella Muti, Victoria Beckham, Iman Bowie, Linda Evangelista, Monica Bellucci, and many others. Most of the photographs have been commissioned for various magazines or high-profile advertising campaigns. Some are black and white, and others are color polaroids. This is a large, beautifully designed and exquisitely produced coffee-table book.
