This book refers to buckwheat and vegetable oil, neither of which are part of the paleolithic diet. Don't waste your time with this.

Considering it was free it's ok, glad I didn't pay for it. While flipping through it I found a recipe and it called for Buckwheat flour, well that is on the list to avoid, and many beginners might not know it right off. Sad to say that people jump on the bandwagon and write a book really unaware of the simple rules of the diet. Maybe thats why the book was free? If you are considering this way of life for health or medical reasons do your research and find a different book that follows the guidelines.

The methods had the minimum of detail, and often seemed to be missing one or more steps. Not everything is strictly Paleo, the title is misleading. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone I know. Glad it was free.

If I had paid for this book, I would be incredibly disappointed at the lack of content and for the "click here for instant access" infomercial intro. But, at the time of this review, this book was offered for free on Amazon.

The recipes have very little in the way of instructions or elaboration and may be frustrating to anyone will limited cooking knowledge or skills. However, if you are an old hat in the kitchen or are familiar with many cooking methods, this book could be useful to you as an "idea book" for paleo/primal diet type approaches. Though the recipes seem to be rather haphazardly thrown together, I give it back a star because it was free.

To the comments about buckwheat - it is allowed in the primal diet approach, which is considered a paleo type diet. This is because buckwheat is technically not a grain (same with wild rice). There are multiple "paleo" diets now under the paleo umbrella, and no one person or way owns the label. In fact, you will find a decent amount of arguing in any given discussion group about what qualifies and what does not for "paleo" or "primal." So read up on everything you can and read this book knowing those facts. In either case, a free book with recipe ideas can be helpful when you're starting out and running out of recipe mojo.

For what it's worth, as someone who started primal about a year ago, I can tell you my joints don't hurt as much and I feel better. Paleo/primal is worth trying. You can always go back. But commit to at least a few strict weeks so you can really get a taste of the results. Anyone can do that much. ;)

And then I returned the book. I'm not a great cook but I can follow a well explained recipe. I could not follow any of the recipes in this book. For example, a recipe should use the ingredients in the order presented. One of the recipes (I don't remember since I've already deleted the book) says to coat the chicken in herbs & then place in the marinade. Therefore, it seems reasonable that the marinade ingredients should come after the herbs. Unless, the olive oil & vinegar are supposed to be mixed with herbs & the whole thing is a marinade. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but, as I said, I can follow a well explained recipe. I didn't find any of the recipes in this book to be very well explained. Maybe it's me. I would seriously pass on this cookbook.
