Prologue: First shes gone and now shes here . . .
April awakens in a hospital. All April knows for sure is that she was gone and now she's here, she punched her best friend in the eye and it was absolutely necessary, and finally, her best friend Sandy might lose that eye. April cries a couple of silent tears. She would have done anything to trade places with Sandy when the punch landed.
Its late afternoon and she feels as if shes slept for a thousand years. Being lucky enough to come out of a coma, she comes close to having that thousand-year sleep.
April feels like one of the stories that Sandys always penning. Sandys got a strange way of writing, April thinks. She writes in the past tense except for important or action scenes, that she always writes in the present. Its jarring to say the least. When April was in the coma, she could have written her life in the past tense. Now shes back, alive, and feeling very present.
