Présentation de l'éditeur

Tattoos fade with time. Emotions never lose their edge.

Luke Emerson is the last person Sebastian Wakefield expects to see strolling into his tattoo shop. But Luke’s not back after four years to take up where they left off. Not even to apologize for the cheating that broke them up.

Luke wants a custom tattoo, a memorial for someone known only as “A.J.”. Much as Seb would love to tell Luke to take this ink and shove it, he’s a professional. Plus, he’s reluctant to admit, he wouldn’t mind getting his hands on Luke again. Even if it’s just business.

Once Luke’s in the tattoo chair, though, Seb finds himself struggling with all the anger and resentment he thought he’d left behind—and those aren’t the only feelings reignited. Their relationship may have been turbulent, but it was also passionate. Four years clearly hasn’t been long enough for the embers of that fire to go cold.

A few subtle hints from Luke is all it takes to make Seb consider indulging in some of that physical passion. It shouldn’t be that tough to keep his emotions from getting tangled up in sweaty sheets.

After all, it’s not like he’s in love with Luke anymore. Right?

Warning: Contains two exes who shouldn’t want each other like this, steamy ex-sex they shouldn’t be having, and a whole lot of ink.

Sebastian Wakefield isn't happy when his ex, Luke Emerson, shows up at his tattoo shop wanting a tattoo. He's even less happy when he finds out what it is: an angel memorial tattoo for someone named "A.J." He can't really afford to turn down the business, however, so he agrees to do the tat.

Once he gets Luke in his tattoo chair, all his old feelings come rushing back. He's still attracted to Luke, and he has a lot of deep feelings for the man aside from the bitterness and anger over Luke's cheating ways. It's obvious Luke shares his attraction, and pretty soon Seb's wondering why they shouldn't sleep together again--just sex, no emotions involved. That shouldn't be too hard...

A.J.'s Angel is a great mix of emotional and hot. I really sympathized with Sebastian. Even years after Luke's betrayal, he's still hurt. He just doesn't realize how much until Luke shows up wanting a tattoo. He struggles with anger, jealousy over the mysterious "A.J.", and an attraction he can't shake. The "I'll sleep with him to get him out of my system" plot is not anything new, but it was well-done here. Seb knows he's playing with fire, and accepts the potential consequences even as he gives in to his desires.

Since Sebastian is the first-person narrator, Luke is less developed. He really messed up the first time they were together, something he freely admits. Most of the time I absolutely hate cheaters in books, but it's clear that Luke understands how badly he hurt Seb and that he wants to make amends. The scenes between Luke and Sebastian are both hot and emotional. Sebastian goes through an emotional wringer in A.J.'s Angel, and thanks to his narration the reader gets to come along. There's not a lot of external action to be found here, but the emotional journey kept me interested enough that I didn't care. L.A. Witt is fast becoming one of my auto-buy authors, and A.J.'s Angel does not disappoint. Contemporary fans, pick this one up!

Just finished this story. And,I loved it! But then, I really like L.A. Witt's' style anyway. To be honest, I'm working hard to read all her books. :D
Just as her other stories that I've read, this one didn't disappoint.

Sebastian's thoughts kept me giggling throughout the entire story. That's not saying it didn't have any serious parts in it,though.

I admired how the author caught exactly how Sebastian was feeling, and at the same time, catches setting and mood of the story with a simple line or phrase. He He...Here, let me give an example of what I'm talking about. This scene is when Sebastian and Luke are inexplicably attracted to each other after four years apart:

"I reached for his belt buckle, but between his lips on my neck and his fingers on my nipple rings, I couldn't quite remember how to work it.
`I've got a better idea.' He (Luke) let go and stepped back, hauling his shirt over his head before reaching for his half unbuckled belt. I got the message and unbuckled my own belt. We both stripped out of our clothes as quickly as we could.
I didn't look at him the whole time.

I couldn't. Not if I had a prayer of getting all these clothes off, all these clothes...

F***, why am I wearing so god*******many clothes?

I kicked my boxers out of the way and turned to face him.

Sweet Mother of God...

He was just as toned and tanned as he'd ever been..."

I could just picture his expression while these thoughts are going through his mind.

Ms. Witt just has a unique use of words that explains what the character is feeling in a totally... ah... descriptive way.

For instance, while in the bedroom...

"Luke had found just the right amount of pressure to send currents of
OH MY F***ING GOD coursing through every nerve ending that wasn't already sizzling from the ecstasy of being inside him.

Yeah, okay, so there is a little swearing in this story that might bother some more sensitive ears.
But, I found that the use of swear words only helped to set the mood for the intense bedroom scenes.

Oh, if you're the type that appreciates steamy love scenes, well...
This story will make you keep a towel handy! ;)

**Slight Plot Spoiler**
I really enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. I connected with Sebastian and felt sorry for what Luke done to him when they were younger. The one thing I still had trouble believing though was that Luke was suddenly "different" and "changed". He had hurt Sebastian pretty bad, multiple times (and he knew what he was doing) and suddenly he was a changed man. Maybe if he didn't cheat as many times as he did it would have been a little more believable. Other than that, the plot development was steady and interesting. The tension between Sebastian and Luke and the mystery of why Luke came back piqued my interest. Good read.

I liked the tattoo artist guy and I liked seeing him do his tattoo business. I felt bad for him that he hadn't gotten over Luke and I felt that was realistic. The suspense between him and wondering what Luke was coming back for was very realistic and kept the pages turning, and their sexual connection was hot. But Luke made me uneasy maybe because we never get his side of it and I don't think he ever fully came across nor could I believe in them as a long term couple. Still I found the ending interesting the way it came together. recommended for the writing and the viewpoint character and I would read other things by this author.
