5.0 étoiles sur 5 Arguably the best Pebble Creek Amish adventure to date 28 juin 2013
Par Harold Wolf - Publié sur Amazon.com
Julia's dream café fades as quickly as steam from a coffee refill. Her Dat & Mamm decision was to send her from Pebble Creek to Pennsylvania. She'd be forced from her life-long home. It's the Amish way of things. NOT so wunderbaar.

Even bishop Atlee who witnessed the document signing of Julia's parents knew she had few options. Seek the answer through prayer, gotte's Wille, and then...move or marry. Marry?! What's love got to do with it?

With a marriage being one means to `save the farm' and caffe dream, up pops quiet, delivery lad, fisherman, & Indiana native, Caleb. As a reader (and an Indiana lifer) I'm all over cheering on Caleb, like an Amishman in the barnyard a swattin' flies.

But a fast romance is not to be in any Amish series book by Vannetta Chapman, known for her written twists and turns, and vignettes of story delight. Ah, a rumspringa teen, not uncommon for Amish genre, but Sharon's running `wild' in an Indiana setting. A troubled soul. So take your time reading through the sights, smells and touches of the Plain culture. You might even try some of the discussion questions and read Nappanee, IN, Amish recipes at the close of this romantic adventure.

A powerful action-packed high-suspense ending event that emerges from documents of history. So many flavors to this story it is like eating a mixed-berry pie (not one in the recipe appendix.)

The Pebble Creek Amish series:

2. A Home for Lydia (The Pebble Creek Amish Series)

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The Best Yet! From Vannetta Chapman 28 juin 2013
Par Karla Hanns - Publié sur Amazon.com
I find it very difficult to describe this book!! ONLY, because , there was simply nothing in this work of art that I didn't love!!! Vannetta continues The Pebble Creek Series with this third book and I must say that she has ended her series with a bang!! I am one disappointed reader that this series is over, however, I DO look forward to more winning books from Vannetta!

My attention was immediately grabbed on the very first page of the Prologue. It was rather like putting your hand in a box of your favorite donuts and knowing that any one you choose will be the BEST! I opened this book and KNEW it would be as good, if not better than previous ones! AND this book was fantastic. and met my every expectation ! My only regret was when I reached the last page, that the story was over, and I wanted it to go on and on and on and........

The character development was outstanding. To me, a truly great book has to allow me to identify with at least one of the characters. This book met this need in a big way. Julia's hurts, shocks, challenges , dismay, as well as her joys , became part of me. I could feel them all!! BUT, and this is the shocker, I could do the same with her mom, and her new beau, Caleb. They became my family and friends as the plot developed.

The plot is full of unexpected twists and turns. Just when you think you know how one problem is going to be solved, you encounter a surprise ! A complication, a change, certainly does not make a predictable conclusion. I was totally entranced as I read. This book is definitely a page turner. I could not put it down. The results???? Well, a dirty house, meals late and not much sleep one night!!
Just don't expect to read a couple of chapters , then you will read the rest later. It just won't happen!! It is a compelling story of a young lady and her struggles! Will she allow God to work through her and comply with His plan??

Definitely a five star book!! You just HAVE to read it!!!

Way to go, Vannetta!! I can hardly wait for your next creation!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 yet another example of why Vannetta is on my short list of favorite authors... 3 juillet 2013
Par Michelle - Publié sur Amazon.com
Julia Beechy is shocked to learn that her ailing mother has mapped out her future for her. Ada, a frail yet stern mother, demands Julia to move to Pennsylvania once Ada dies. Julia is determined to find a way to stay in Pebble Creek. No way does she want to end up in Pennsylvania and give up her dream of one day opening a little café in the only home she has ever known. Decisions need to be made and made right quick. As her world seems to be spinning out of control Julia knows one thing for sure: she simply cannot let this happen....

A Wedding for Julia by Vannetta Chapman is yet another example of why Vannetta is on my short list of favorite authors. She has written a truly wonderful story full of characters who will inspire and uplift you. This is the third book in the Pebble Creek series and I have come to love this small community of people with big hearts. If you have not read the first two books don't worry because you can definitely travel to Pebble Creek for the first time with Julia's story. Everything fits neatly together as if your suitcase has already been packed for you so enjoy your trip! It's well worth it.

This book was provided to me from Harvest House Publishers for review purposes.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Chapman scores another hit! 29 juin 2013
Par Connie R. - Publié sur Amazon.com
This is the fourth book of Vanetta Chapman's that I have had the privilege of reading. Third in the Pebble Creek series, this book features Chapman's unusual way of peeking into the Amish life as their traditional ways meet the modern world.

This story starts off with an untraditional beginning to a marriage. At the onset it looks as if it will be a sappy love story, or a story of an attempted relationship that will go wrong. I warn you, you can't make ANY assumptions!

Wound through the story of Caleb and Julia's marriage are threads of God's grace and provision as met through the bonds of family love. There is Ada, Julia's beloved mother, who in dealing with the death of her husband has begun to loosen herself from life on earth until the household takes in Caleb's relative, Sharon, a young teenager recovering from a traumatic event in her young life.

Most powerful to me in this story, from beginning to end, is the capacity of "family" to hold, heal and nourish individual members of a clan. It's a story of individuals trying to make the best of what life has handed them, with faith in God and trust in each other as a final result, which is the way God has intended it to work from the beginning, isn't it?
