From Library Journal
This full-color beginner's guide to the Elements version of PhotoShop (intended for amateur photographers and digital-image hobbyists) opens with a brief introduction to digital imaging, then delves into foundational image manipulation techniques such as adding text, working with selections and layers, and preparing images for both the web and print. Useful features include a "jargon buster" glossary and a companion web site (www.guide2elements.com) that walks readers through step-by-step demonstrations of highlighted techniques. Public libraries should consider.

Review
'... this is an easy to follow and highly informative digital imaging handbook specifically designed for users of Adobe's latest photo editing software, Photoshop Elements. Andrews' style suits entry level users as it is beautifully and well-illustrated with quality photography and non-threatening text.'

'Although I am not a complete beginner in photo manipulation I am new to Elements. I chose this book to start my exploration of Elements and I am very glad that I did. It explained things very simply and I had no difficulty getting to grips with Elements at all. I still have a lot to learn, but that aside I would heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in digital photography.'

'Philip Andrews is a skilled and enthusiastic teacher, his book is clearly illustrated throughout and is refreshingly direct and easy to understand.'

'This is a great book for Photoshop beginners. The language is very clear and the practice exercises give the reader the opportunity to actually use the tools as they move along. It also gives excellent descriptions (and identification) of all the available tools in Photoshop. I have several books on this subject, but none is as clear as this one. It has made all the difference as I am learning how to use the software. It is a MUST for beginners!'

'[Philip Andrew's] Adobe Photoshop Elements title is an excellent read, many colourful photographic examples and true to life screenshots replicate working within the software. Beginner or advanced the book is great value for money and I for one highly recommend it.'

'This book should be in everyone's library. I purchased A Visual Introduction to Digital Imaging, BEFORE purchasing Elements. I wasn't sure if Elements was easy enough for me. The book is so clear and understanding. The quality of the pages are also great. Not some inexpensive paper. I also like the online tutorials. I feel that anyone who is considering purchasing this book, will not be disappointed.'

'Philip Andrews' book is, like the program itself, full of features you don't find in many more expensive models. There are so many books on digital imaging these days that it is a pleasure to come across one where the trinity of author knowledge, ample meaningful illustration and facility of communication to the reader is so readily achieved.'
