A good followup in the series 13 octobre 2013
Par Wm Eric Brunsen - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
I think this was a good book, but not as good as the fist book.

If I had the ability, I would have given this on 3.5 stars rather than 4, but 3 stars didn't seem fair so I went with 4.

The book is great up until about 75% (according to my Kindle), and then it seemed rushed. I don't know what happened but to me, it seemed like the story was building at a very good pace, and then suddenly it was time to end the book. I am not sure what should have been in between 75% and the ending, but it just seemed that something was lacking.

That being said, I still think this was a good story, just not as quite as good as the first one.

A minor irritant for me is that L.T. uses the term "clip" rather than "magazine" for the thing that holds the ammunition in the weapon. This is incorrect. Also there are few times when the character "grabs extra ammunition" and put it into his pocket, which I think L.T. meant he grabbed extra ammunition magazines, because with a magazine fed weapon, you generally are not going to have or take the time to load the magazine with loose ammunition during a conflict, but rather, would simply exchange the empty magazine for a fully loaded magazine.

It was good, but missing a lot. 24 novembre 2014

This continuation left a lot to be desired. The story is still solid and the character development is interesting, but there were places that feel very disconnected from the rest of the story. The ending is incredibly clumsy and abrupt and, not to be a huge jackass, but there are a ton of typos and misused terms (breach and breech are not interchangeable), all of which are distracting since the first installment had almost none, not to mention that this book is very short. Things like that made it feel like it should've been a $.99 book instead of a $4 one. I'm going to read the next installment, simply because I've taken the time to invest in the story, but I'm not sure I'll be venturing farther than that, much less into the author's other works, unless it's significantly better than this one.

Here we go - ACTION 25 septembre 2013

The next book in the Affliction Z series, Abandoned Hope - starts where the last book leaves off. In the first book, Patient Zero, we had the story behind the zombie contagion and an introduction to characters. This book focuses on the initial outbreak and how our different characters deal with the harsh realities. There are some heartbreaking scenes and a few times where I wanted to tell the characters "Noooo don't DO that!". I loved it! There was enough action to keep you going the entire book. Can't wait for the next in line :)

Hope, Faith, Love and Zombies... 5 octobre 2013

Here we have the Second Book in the Affliction Z Series: 1st was Patient Zero (Where you can read my review and others) Which told of the beginnings of the Affliction in Nigeria. It's now many years later. (It's NOT Mandatory that you read Patient Zero, Because Abandoned Hope stands alone - But it does give you the back-story on the two main characters, Sean & Turk.)
Mr. Ryan has written a very "Human" zombie novel.
Many zombie novels I have read focus mostly on the shuffling beings, (there's plenty of hordes of zombies tearing folks limb from limb, here, don't get me wrong) But, Lee writes more about the survivors, which just may be the most dangerous of the two.
The writing, as always, is fast-paced and to the point, in which you get caught up in the characters lives and care about what happens to them!

NOTE: For some reason, Lee, this book Does Not show up on Your Author Page.

~~Non-stop action~~ 1 octobre 2013

Follow Tuck and his family in their bunker, Sean and Emma in theirs (plus, Barbara, a friend); then, toss in Addison in her trek to get to NC and the non-stop action on all of the fronts is starting. Don't forget that the hordes of afflicted are around during all of this time!

Sean's wife, Kathy is on a trip when the EMP hits. Her main mission is to get home safely to her family. The motivation of a woman without her child is apparent in what she accomplishes. The scene in her home when she makes it home is both powerful and poignant.

Turk and his entourage are not faring well, either. Their bunker is in danger of compromise due to Turk's brother, Marcus. Will Turk be able to find his family?

Toss in Addison and her adventures trying to get to NC. This is an adventure by itself. She is captured, escapes and then recaptured. Ouch... And, the location she ends up in will surprise the reader.

The ending of this is super! Now, the reader gets to wait until next year to see how all of this turns out.

Extremely well written and most highly recommended.
