Un excellent rapport qualité/ prix pour ce coffret réunissant les troisièmes et quatrièmes albums du groupe . Le style a évolué par rapport aux débuts , le son est plus Rock dans l ' ensemble . On trouve des compos magnifiques comme Take the L et Change my Mind . En plus , All Four One contient plusieurs bonus . Un groupe et une chanteuse Martha Davis à découvrir ou à redécouvrir pour les moins jeunes .

Little Robbers is available once more! 17 janvier 2010

I couldn't believe that the Motel's "Little Robbers" has been unavailable for so many years, especially since the album spawned several hit songs (e.g. Suddenly Last Summer and Remember the Nights), and so much music from the 1980s is popular again. In addition to the hits, this double album contains a number of tracks not available on any of the Motels' greatest hits CDs.
Hoorah for the Brits! Britannia rules the (air)waves.
Now, if we could only get access to their itunes as well.

Fadin' Footsteps on Hot Ce-ment! 23 septembre 2009
Par whitechocolatebrotha - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD
This is an amazing two-fer which contains two Gold-certified albums from the 80's New Wave turned Pop band, The Motels.

"All Four One" was released in 1982 and "Little Robbers" the following year. The former featured the smash hit, "Only the Lonely" while the latter boasted the smash hit, "Suddenly Last Summer" as it's introductory single.

These are two masterpieces finally remastered for the first time since 1996 and 1997. Martha Davis' voice is in perfect form and the band sounds pretty awesome too! Also included are other hits, "Take the L," "Forever Mine" and "Remember the Nights."

Also, check out "Apocolypso," which is the first version of "All Four One" which was rejected by the execs. at Capitol and which is finally available on CD for the first time in thirty years!

Nicely Remastered 2-CD Reissue of The Motels' Third & Fourth Albums! 4 mars 2014
Par Jason W. Bellenger - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: CD Achat vérifié
The Motels 1982 and 1983 albums, "All For One" and "Little Robbers", were reissued in the U.K. market on BGO Records in 2009. The original CD pressings have been out of print for a number of years, and thanks to BGO we have both albums back in print with new packaging and newly remastered sound. "All For One" was the result of a long year in the studio and came together after Capitol rejected its original production and track selection as the "Apocalypso" album in 1981. Much of the "Apocalypso" album was re-recorded, and a number of tracks were replaced, after Capitol deemed the album too dark and too weird. The result? "All For One" became the band's breakthrough in the U.S., spawning the No. 9 smash, "Only The Lonely". Two more U.S. singles were pulled from the album: "Take The L" reached U.S. No. 52, while its b-side, the album cut, "Mission of Mercy", made U.S. AOR (Album Oriented Rock) No. 23. Final single "Forever Mine" peaked at U.S. No. 60. (Note that the "Apocalypso" album was finally issued on CD and vinyl in its original recording in August 2011, exactly thirty years after it was originally intended to be released).

The track list for "All For One" on this BGO reissue is identical to the track list on the 1999 expanded remaster on Capitol Records. My assumption is that BGO were able to license the original album and its bonus tracks for this special 2-CD collection, allowing BGO to create a new remaster for this release. However, this reissue is plagued by a flaw. While the track selection is identical, the track order is not. The five bonus tracks at the end of "All For One" are in the same order as the 1999 reissue although not listed as such on the back sleeve of this reissue. This reissue lists the bonus tracks as the following order:

11 Mission of Mercy [Apocalypso Version]
12 Only the Lonely [Live]
13 Schneekin' [Apocalypso Version]
14 So L.A. [Apocalypso Version]
15 Who Could Resist That Face

The correct order is as follows:

11 So L.A. [Apocalypso Version]
12 Schneekin' [Apocalypso Version]
13 Mission of Mercy [Apocalypso Version]
14 Who Could Resist That Face
15 Only The Lonely [Live]

"Little Robbers", on the other hand, is the original album remastered with no bonus tracks. Unfortunately, a number of b-sides from this era were not included, perhaps due to licensing. My favorite Motels song, "Some Things Never Change", was issued only as the b-side of first single, "Suddenly Last Summer". It was not included on the album, even though I think that it would have made an excellent closing track on the album. (Note that "Some Things Never Change" made its CD debut in 2002 on Capitol Records "Classic Masters" compilation for The Motels). "Killing Time", another non-album cut, was issued as the b-side of the second single, "Remember The Nights". "Killing Time" made its CD debut on the 1995 collection, "Sedated in the Eighties Vol. 4", which is now out of print. Again, it would have made an excellent bonus track here, especially since they are continuously overlooked on any Motels reissues.

"Little Robbers" continued the success of "All For One", spawning three more hit singles. "Suddenly Last Summer" reached U.S. No. 9, matching the peak of "Only The Lonely". "Remember The Nights" scraped into the U.S. Top 40, reaching 36. "Little Robbers", the title track, was promoted to U.S. AOR radio, reaching No. 18.

BGO has reissued these albums with audio remastered from the original master tapes courtesy of Capitol Records. Mastering credits go to Andrew Thompson at Sound Performance, London, 2009. Audiophiles concerned about brick-walling and the "loudness wars" will be pleased to know that the audio is of excellent quality, maintaining a wide dynamic range, yet gaining an overall loudness, clarity, and presence over the original CD releases. I transferred a number of these tracks into an audio editing program and discovered not only the dynamic range but also no audio clipping. Although I prefer my remasters slightly louder, I have no complaints here. I would rather have a more restrained remaster than a piercing, harsh, bloated remaster like the Culture Factory remasters of the same two albums.

In addition to excellent sound, BGO has provided stunning packaging and thorough liner notes. The package includes a slipcase cover for the jewel case, a nice bonus. Various photos from both album projects are included in addition to both original credits and reissue credits. Informative liner notes by David Wells and song lyrics make the booklet a highlight. Some labels tend to go really cheap with these kind of reissues due to lower budgets. BGO gets my utmost respect for caring about the music and for presenting a wonderful reissued package.

Better value, but could use a bit more care in packaging 2 mai 2012

Why don't the music companies issue more cds like this? The medium allows for more material than a single re-release of the typical original pre-cd album. This British import is a decent compilation of first and fourth albums, with emphemera. Sadly, the track information does not conform with the actual order of the tracks on the first disk. Only a problem for those who pay attention to things like song titles.
