Présentation de l'éditeur

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cora Carmack follows up her trio of hits—Losing It, Faking It, and Finding It—with this thrilling first novel in an explosive series bursting with the Texas flavor, edge, and steamy romance of Friday Night Lights.

In Texas, two things are cherished above all else—football and gossip. My life has always been ruled by both.

Dallas Cole loathes football. That's what happens when you spend your whole childhood coming in second to a sport. College is her time to step out of the bleachers, and put the playing field (and the players) in her past.

But life doesn't always go as planned. As if going to the same college as her football star ex wasn’t bad enough, her father, a Texas high school coaching phenom, has decided to make the jump to college ball… as the new head coach at Rusk University. Dallas finds herself in the shadows of her father and football all over again.

Carson McClain is determined to go from second-string quarterback to the starting line-up. He needs the scholarship and the future that football provides. But when a beautiful redhead literally falls into his life, his focus is more than tested. It's obliterated.

Dallas doesn't know Carson is on the team. Carson doesn't know that Dallas is his new coach's daughter.

And neither of them know how to walk away from the attraction they feel.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Cora's Trademark Humour & Endearingly Awkward Heroine! 13 mai 2014
Par Amy @ The Reading Realm - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle
Dallas is trying so hard to find her own place in the world - most importantly separate from her father and football, that dominated her high school life. After having her heart broken by her ex boyfriend and star QB, she's sworn off footballers for life. After meeting and hitting it off with new guy, Carson, at a party Dallas thinks collage life in finally looking up, that is until she discovers Carson is on the football team.

Meanwhile, Carson can't believe that the quirky girl from the Rusk college party, is none other than the very off limits daughter of his new coach. With money being tight in his family, Carson is desperate to make the field in the coveted QB position to score a scholarship. And a girl, especially the coaches daughter, is a distraction he doesn't need.

Both have good reasons to avoid a relationship with each other, but the attraction between them is undeniable. Soon their reasons to stay away don't seem so important anymore.

Dallas is such a relatable heroine. Some of her thoughts are things that we all think at times, but would never admit out loud - it was both hilarious and somewhat reassuring! At first Dallas was a little weak at standing up her father. She lets him make a lot of decisions about her life and it was great to see learn to take charge of her own future.

Carson, the deliciously sexy 2nd string QB was just perfect. He's tough, dedicated, with a kind heart and did I mention sexy as hell! He's extremely driven and has worked so hard to keep his spot on the team. And while he's not so strong in the academic side of things, I love that he still tries, it just highlighted his dedication.

The chemistry between Carson & Dallas was fantastic! From the first scene where they meet it's clear there are sparks - hot fiery sparks!! But they both have reasons to keep away from each other, and watching them try to deny their feelings just added to the sexual tension! Their romance was slow to build as the got to know and trust one another, which made it all the more sweet and sexy!

I love Cora's writing style, with her quirky sense of humour running through all of her books. Her heroines are always down to earth and extremely relatable. And with the perfect mix and sexy angst and hilarious'y embarrassing scenes, her books are always so much fun!

With Cora's trademark humour and endearingly awkward heroine, All Lined Up is sure to be another winner!!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Everything about “All Lined Up” is perfect! 13 mai 2014

“All Lined Up” can be summed up in a single word: Perfect. Amazing. Emotional. Swoon. Okay, so four words. But in all, I LOVED THIS BOOK! I could not put it down, and actually read it in a single sitting.

In typical Cora Carmack fashion, the story is unique (it is not your typical NA college sports book), and beautifully written. I loved that this book is written in dual POV, so we see everything unfold from the perspective of both Dallas and Carson. For me, a dual POV done right is so much more satisfying than a singular POV. And “All Lined Up” was satisfying – captivating from start to finish, and had all the feels!

The characters, Dallas and Carson, were fun, quirky and so real. The dialogue was spot-on and the inner monologues down-right funny at times. Dallas was amazing - the sweet, smart and headstrong girl next door, but with her own faults and room for growth. Cora wrote each character, especially Dallas, in a way that was balanced, making each human through the nuances. I completely understood Dallas’s conflicting emotions and actions, flawlessly summed up by Carson: “That’s her personality, too: combative and shy, bold and insecure.” I truly felt like Dallas and Carson were real, sitting in the room with me.

And Carson! I am in love! Not only is he sweet, funny and a great guy, he is totally and completely sexy. “I swallow and stare and swallow again, because dear, sweet Jesus riding a unicorn, he’s perfect.” Not only does he have a body built for sex, but he is a true romantic, with his love for Dallas at the basis of everything he does. Complete swoon! The pacing of the developing relationship between Dallas and Carson is ideal – while there is an immediate attraction and spark, there isn’t an unbelievable case of “insta-love.” Cora builds a foundation and life for the characters that is relatable, understandable, and fully engaging.

Everything about “All Lined Up” is perfect, including the secondary characters. The best friends were not annoying or written out of necessity, but actually added emotion and life to the story. Stella, while hilarious at times, added a deeper understanding of Dallas. I would love to see her (and possibly Ryan!) get her own book. While leaving the reader satisfied, Cora definitely left room for a second story. I cannot wait to read more about the football players at Rusk U!

I give this book a 5 star “stamp of approval” and recommend it to anyone who likes a beautifully written story with tons of emotion!

I was lucky enough to purchase the paperback at a local signing. :)

All Lined Up is the first novel in a brand new series by Cora Carmack and wow, to use a baseball analogy; she really hit it out of the park! Yes, the book is about football, but you catch my drift.

Dallas is the only child to a single dad. Life was tough growing up a without a female influence in her home, she was always dropped off at one activity or another to keep her busy while her workaholic dad was at the “office”. Her dad is a well known, highly regarded football coach at the high school and university levels and all their household has ever known is football. Dallas has dreams of being a dancer, but due to her father’s tight grip, she’s attending Rusk University where her father is now the head coach. Rusk’s dance program leaves a lot to be desired, but what options does Dallas really have when dad is paying the bills and calling the shots?

Carson is a second string quarterback that just transferred to Rusk from a community college. Unlike most of the guys on the football team, he is a walk-on; he’s not getting any scholarship money of any kind and has to work his tail off not only on the field, but academically as well. His family’s ranch has taken a hit with the Texas drought so finances are tight, but they’re doing their best to help with his education. Carson can’t risk losing focus as he attempts to secure a scholarship for the next academic year; having a girlfriend or love interest would be all the distraction he would need.

I absolutely loved the character of Dallas. For once we have an honest, frank, strong female character that isn’t afraid to tell it like it is or stand by her convictions. She has trouble communicating with her father though and needs to figure out what she really wants to do with her life. With the help of Carson, and her equally sharp tongued best friend Stella, Dallas is able to turn her relationship with her father around and get over the mistrust she has in the opposite sex, football players to be specific. All Lined Up is truly a coming of age story that reveals the maturity and growth of an individual during a very important time in her life.

All Lined Up could have easily been another clichéd NA romance, but given Ms. Carmack’s background as a coach’s daughter, the narrative is authentic and speaks to the personal experiences she may have felt growing up. I literally devoured this book in one sitting, because once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. Like all of Ms. Carmack’s other works, it is well written; the characters have a depth that makes them believable and relatable, and the storyline feels genuine. This was a definite five star read for me and I am definitely looking forward to the next volume of the series! Carson is definitely swoon-worthy and I can’t wait to meet more of the team!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 OK but mired in annoying cliches 23 octobre 2014

2-1/2 stars: OK book but could have been so much better. I did finish it (I'm having a harder time finishing NA books these days) and it didn't irk me half to death. That said, it started with way too many cliches (the petite, snarky sidekick dragging the reluctant h to a boozy college frat party with a bunch of cliche player-type guys - the next book I read that starts out like this is being returned for a refund ASAP), the main characters were good but not great, some impediments to their happiness seemed silly and contrived, and I don't think the 1st Person POV (often a huge pet peeve of mine) with alternating viewpoints did the story any favors. I'm always trying to figure out if the person "speaking" is narrating, reminiscing in his/her head, writing a memoir or what. It particularly doesn't work with detailed dialogue (no one remembers such things) and love scenes, for me.

The epilogue comes suddenly and isn't satisfying. I also actively dislike the name "Carson" for an H and I long for a romance with an h who has an actual female name - those don't seem to exist anymore. It was not badly written and had minimal errors. Do I feel either main character was riveting? No. Would I read it again? No. Will I read the next one, "All Broke Down"? No! Not based on the excerpt at the end of this one. I don't like Silas and constant F-bombs.

All Lined Up by Cora Carmack

Soooo Happy I can finally share my review with you guys!! I've read All Lined Up a total of THREE times since I got my hands on it (yeah. It's not even releasing until May 13. That should tell you how awesome it is.) I am totally, irrevocably, in love with these characters.

All Lined Up is a stellar debut novel in the Rusk University series by Cora Carmack. There is no other series that has roped me in to the minds of the characters as well as Cora did in All Lined Up. Cora’s style is fast and witty.. and almost always includes an awkward character that just can’t quite get her s*** together – which we can ALL relate to (okay, or at least I can). All Lined Up is no different in that aspect.

These characters are so alive in my head that I feel like I could call them up on the phone, or shoot them a text, and damn! I really wanna go to Rusk University! Dallas Cole is hilarious, and her inner monologue is eerily close to the s*** storm that swirls around in my brain every single day.

Carson McClain? He’s not much different. He has real life struggles that anyone who’s ever stepped foot into any sort of competitive endeavor can relate to. It really doesn’t hurt that he’s hotter than boiled crawfish in the Louisiana Bayou. (Yeah… I totally just went there.. god I really want some crawfish…)

Stella Santos is the perfect side kick for Dallas and her sometimes embarrassingly awkward moments, and their dialogue will have you laughing no matter the kind of mood you’re in. I can’t wait until I can sink my teeth into another book in this series, because I know that it’ll be just as amazing.

What is really awesome about this book is that it’s a peek into how Cora grew up. They always say “write what you know” and she did. You can tell it with every word on the page, that Cora has some intense and passionate feelings - whether they’re the good or bad kind – about growing up in Texas (or anywhere in the deep south, really) as a football coach’s daughter. If you’re not from the south, let me clue you in. Football….it’s a religion, one that everyone practices, whether they believe in it or not. You really get a good glimpse of that in this book.

Oh, and the book doesn't exactly lack in the "steamy" department either..... Did I mention how hot Carson is?

I sincerely hope you’ll check out not just All Lined Up, but the whole Rusk University series, and if you haven’t read any Cora Carmack, that you’ll come back asking me what else she’s written and where you can buy it. I really think you’ll be glad you did.
