Présentation de l'éditeur

The Herbal Wisdom Our Grandmothers Knew – Made Simple

Have you been longing to ditch over-the-counter medicines and treat your family more naturally, but it all seemed too intimidating? Not sure which herbs to use when, and whether or not they’re too strong or dangerous for your children? Tired of feeling like you have no other choice than to grab what’s for sale at the supermarket when your child comes home with the sniffles? It’s time to tap into your inner owl and gain some herbal wisdom.

Perfect for Home Herbalists, Homesteaders, and Preppers!

Herbal remedies don’t have to be intimidating or overwhelming. There are many easy remedies you and your family can use when the cold or flu strike, or when you’re hoping to avoid dangerous prescription medications for things such as high blood pressure, arthritis, sinusitis, or asthma. Herbs Gone Wild! helps take the mystery out of herbalism and puts your family’s health back into your control.

Entertaining From Beginning to End

A spoonful of humor makes herbal medicine go down that much easier – Diane Kidman teaches with wit and laughter, sharing anecdotes to keep your learning at a good clip. Her recipes are clear cut and easy to follow, and the Herbal Medicine Guide at the end of the book helps you to quickly reference over 70 herbs for home use.

Over 100,000 People Have Downloaded It! What Do They Think?

"This book is one of the best herb books I have read. Very simple and straight forward. I fell as though I can actually make the tincture and salve, where as other books describe it in a complex way."

"I refer to this book at least once a week."

"I learned a lot from this ebook. Diane Kidman has a way of writing that is enjoyable to read while you learn. I purchased this ebook in December and have read it a couple of times. Something new sinks in each time I read it. Thanks, Diane Kidman! I needed this ebook!"

About the Author:

Diane Kidman came about herbs quite by accident. As many new mothers do, she completely freaked out. What was she going to give this tiny being? Red dye #5? Glowing pink goop? Cough syrups strong enough to be sold on street corners? Blogging her trials and errors on http://dkMommySpot.com, she discovered there were many people out there who saw things like she did. There must be a more natural way to care for ourselves and our families. She eventually studied herbalism with the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and continues to study through real-life practice. She is often found in the woods, leaves and twigs stuck in her hair.

I already own several herb books, but I bought this one because I loved the title. I wish I would have bought it as my first herb book, as the author removes anything intimidating about working with herbs. I've had to "weed" through other books that were aimed more at aspiring herbalists rather than those of us who just want to know what herb to use for which condition. Others were too esoteric for my taste. Herbs Gone Wild! works for those of us who want practical, easy-to-use remedies.

So here's the thing: I'm not a non-fiction reader. I read mainly for enjoyment, and only pick up non-fiction books when I'm looking for important information. That important information is EXACTLY why I started reading Herbs Gone Wild -- because I knew that cold and flu season was coming up, and I wanted to "arm" myself in advance for the onslaught. Imagine my surprise when I couldn't put it down! Diane Kidman's use of wry humor and engaging storytelling make this valuable resource a quick read. And the information it contains is nothing short of miraculous. I've already made a batch of cherry cough syrup, and have several other recipes bookmarked for the upcoming sniffle season. You can't go wrong with this book -- it's an informative and engaging must-have.

This book is very interesting and informative. I just finished it, and haven't had the opportunity to use much of the remedies, but last night my two year old woke up coughing and coughing and I had JUST been reading about cough remedies, so I tried some, and it worked! So fun to use something you never knew or thought of before and have it go on your list of things to try again.

I enjoyed the section on making your own tinctures and salves especially.
Many books go into great detail about each step, and it seems like it would take SO long, I get discouraged about trying things, but this sounds easy and like I can just throw it together and get on with my life.

I will enjoy using this book.

If you're one of those people who suffers from constant sickness in the winter (or even if not) this is an absolute must have. It's saved me countless trips to the doctor for pills I'd have been reluctant to take in the first place. Just for an example: I end up with bronchitis and a lovely case of chest congestion at least six times per winter season. Every year I've muddled through, meds take ages to work. I used the simple cooked onions on the chest trick in this book (put a heating pad over it to keep it warm longer..not really reccomended as I imagine it's not too safe) ended up falling asleep for two hours. Woke up, absolutely no congestion and I had barely been able to breathe upon lying down. I'd have waited days for medication to work, as usual. If I could give this book a ten star review, it would have it. (I've used many other remedies as well, but that one was the kicker for me.)
