Wow!!!! Thank You Ms Paul!!! 24 juillet 2014

We Mannix fans have wished for a book or a compendium about the series, Mannix. There's books for so many of the classic shows and series and for a long time I doubt if it would ever happen. Seems like it took decades before Mannix was released on dvd--thanks to the Washington Post columnist, Neely Tucker. He wrote a column which was picked up by newspapers across the country and that appeared to cattle prod Paramount into gear. That's another story--have to say a little bit about this wonderful book by JoAnn M. Paul.

Wow. It was worth the wait. Can easily tell a lot of passion went into the effort. As I read, often found myself nodding in agreement with so many points you made. Loved the way the author compared Joe Mannix with the mythical sleuths then and today and it was eye opening understanding how our film heroes today meet with opposition and adversity. Could be wrong but it seems as if today's heroes are invincible. As mentioned in the book, they seldom make mistakes. Are they willing to take a beating (literally) for what they believe in? This is just one of the many questions that had my noodles noshing.

Not only does the author offer up seasons and episodes with fantastic analysis, there's humor involved as she tells how she felt watching certain episodes which are certain to bring a little chuckle. I did--was remembering thinking along the same lines. The author took great care to show us how this series started and the bumps along the way because there were many. Mike Connors, who breathed life into the character Joe Mannix is highly commended for his efforts for they were many.

Gail Fisher who played Joe's secretary is lauded with much respect which she deserves. Frankly, she was a pioneer and set the bar HIGH. That bar to this day has not been broken. There hasn't been a tv series since that featured two people, one White and one Black, a male and female that shared such a strong bond. This book covers ALL the main characters and re-occurring ones with little know tidbits that help you appreciate the show even more.

This book should be in the library of all Mannix fans. Great book to refer to whether you're watching a single episode or having your own Mannix marathon.

Everything about this show was first-rate and I was reminded of this by reading this beautifully written piece of literature. The thoroughness you practiced writing this is soooo very appreciated.

excellent book, I have always loved Mannix, my all time favorite show. however, I now look at it in a whole different context, and find myself enjoying it more than I ever have, and I'm on the sixth go round through the 8 seasons. Joann did a GREAT job on this book !!!!

Part philosophical, part autobiographical, all Mannix 20 mai 2014

In 1977 I stumbled on a book called Star Trek Lives. It changed forever the way I perceived Star Trek. This book does the same for Mannix. As much as I've watched the series on DVD since 2008, and previously on VHS taped from TV Land in the late nineties, this book has changed my view of the series. I watch the show with new respect and appreciate Joe Mannix in a way that I haven't before.

As a member of the Mannix is Coming chatroom on Home Theater Forum, I was privileged to read some of Ms. Paul's earlier posts on the character of Joe Mannix. She was encouraged by the members to write this book. As a Mannix fan fiction author, I welcome her insight into the character of Joe Mannix. Thank you, Ms Paul.

Excellent book for all fans of Mannix. Have been over the book twice and find new meaning from it each time I read . The book expands your view point on special episodes mentioned by the Author. Episodes that by the way happen to have been some of my favorite from the series. The Author goes into great detail and makes many comparisons which with out giving the book away that will give you pause to stop and think.

I have enjoyed Mannix since a kid and now with the DVDs that are out. I think any true fan of the show will enjoy this book and understand the concepts that the Author wants us to understand about what a great TV series this was and that there has not been another like it.

I am glad that I bought the book and that I read it; but it wasn't what I expected. Too much of the authors personal analysis and philosophy which I wasn't that interested in. Mannix was a great show (dear to my heart) and I did learn some facts about the 8 seasons by giving JoAnn's book a read. I do share her enthusiasm for the series though, from one aficionado to another!
By the way, my favorite episode was "A Matter of Principle".
