Really Interesting!!! 28 juillet 2002

Format: Broché
I've found this whole saga interesting. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. The whole lawyer backdrop of the book was really neat, because I normally don't hear about law.
Kit has vowed to never take a case a less she knows for sure they're innocent, but with her new case she isn't so sure. Her new case is one of her old rivals who comes to her when he is accused of murder, he insists that she is the only one that can represent him. The evidence is stacked against her client though. Will she go against what she has vowed to never do and keep the case? Will the forces of the city's high power stack against her and the city itself?
Kit also struggles with the love she still has for Ted Fox. She wonders where he is and what has happened to him. Also her aunt has had enough of Kit being a scandal to her and barely talks to her. Kit worries about her aunt because she goes to someone to read her palm and gives him tons of money for an institute. Will her aunt ever come to believe in Christ? Will Kit ever see Ted again?

Have just read book 1 from the set and am half way through book 2 so I am sure that book 3 will be just as good. Enjoying the court room detail from this series.

This was a great book with an interesting plot and, of course, characters. It includes more of the same that you have come to expect from Peterson and Bell. It blends law and history into an intriguing story that will capture your attention from the beginning.

The quality and level of interest holds up in book three 22 juin 2014

Those who know me well know I'm VERY picky about my fiction. I find myself amazed that I am every bit as interested in this series in book three as with the very first in the series. These books are well written and well rounded. As noted in the reviews of the first 2 books of the series, the sense of place is astounding. Research, while I do not fact check, seems very well done. I am impressed with the boldness with which the writers undertook this plot and its suppositions as well as mixing of fact and fiction. This is especially impressive since authors are typically very timid (fearing for their legal lives) when intertwining fictional characters with real persons or events. It usually takes me months to get around to reading a novel. I've been reading one book in this series after another--downloading the next from Amazon as soon as I finish the one I've got.

If I had to identify one minor flaw---and I really couldn't call it a flaw, but perhaps a divergence from reality, is how everyone gets religion in these books. In book 3, one of the characters receives Jesus prior to death. That's awesome, but I couldn't help but feel it was unrealistic. Many times you can witness to a person repeatedly who goes to their grave without ever making that critical decision. So in this case, in a way, it just didn't quite ring true, though fictional or not, I'm happy for such a decision.

The story was written nearly flawlessly---I only lost interest in one section when the writing went on too long describing the fashions the characters were wearing---always a yawner.

Now I'm off to download book 4 in the series.

Great Reading 28 avril 2014

Enjoyed reading the third book by Bell and Peterson. Really good good Fiction. Think of Matlock. Perry Mason, Law and Order.
These books remind me of those shows. These books also focus on the trials, personal and professional of Kit Shannon.
Set in the early 1900s, in Los Angeles, she experienced many difficulties as a female lawyer in world of men. She faces, discrimination, personal, and professional. This book really keeps you up until the last to find out the ending.
I can't wait to read the next book!
