This new update to the Aperture 3 Portable Genius covers the latest version of Aperture with how-to info on the new controls, such as white balance, and the changes to the Highlights & Shadows controls.
What sets this book apart from others is the clear and straight forward explanations on how to use Aperture to its best advantage. Covering everything from the initial importing to printing your work, Ellen & Josh Anon walk you through the controls and options, throwing in plenty of tips and tricks to help your workflow. Although I am an Apple certified trainer for Aperture, I picked up a few things I didn't know before.
If you're just getting started with Aperture, this is a great guide. If you've been using the app and think you know your way around, I think you'll still find some nuggets that make this a worthwhile addition to your library.

This Second Edition of Aperture 3 Portable Genius is just that - Genius! Most "how to" books make things more difficult to understand but this book makes it simple and easy to follow. Whether you are trying to learn the program for the first time or using it as a reference when you have a problem, this book is clear and easy to work with. The set up of the book, the graphics, the side-notes, and the step-by-step instructions take all the stress out of working with digital images. If you are going to buy just one book, this is the ONE!

I'm not tech savvy by nature, and there are tons of things I'd rather be doing than mastering a learning curve at the computer screen, such as bicycling for instance. So a book like this tells me what I need to know about a heavy-duty graphics program like Aperture before I get to it. I know my way around before starting. I'm not pulling out my hair while learning to use the app. For this I am grateful.
