Présentation de l'éditeur

Delilah Morrissey has always wanted to be a mother, but when she becomes a young widow, that dream now seems farther away than ever. Unable to continue to live alone in Chicago, her only option is to accept her sister's offer to move in with her family back in West Virginia. Will Delilah have the faith to pursue a new dream--even if it means giving up the old?

In this charming novella, debut novelist Sarah Loudin Thomas introduces readers to Wise, West Virginia--a small town nestled in an Appalachian valley where the everyday miracles of life and faith play out in stories of healing, hope, and love.

Includes an excerpt of Miracle in a Dry Season, the first full-length novel in the Appalachian Blessings series--a book New York Times bestselling author Debbie Macomber called, "Wonderful, simply wonderful."

Sometimes, what you have wished for is not always what you need.

I did not expect this book to have so much content when I saw the page numbers. Boy! I was so wrong! This book is jam packed with an excellent story and fantastic characters. It will grip you from page one to the last page.

The story is very well written, flows smoothly and is easy to follow. It starts in1945, 2 years before my birth, and I can tell you the story is true to the life at that time.

You are going to fall in love with these characters folks. I have to admit that Delilah and Robert are my two most favorite characters in this novella. While I can find myself able to relate to all the characters, I do think these two are the best by far.

Delilah was trapped in a marriage to a man who, in this day and age, would have been considered emotionally abusive. He dies at an early age leaving Delilah in massive debt. Unable to continue to live alone in Chicago, she has no other option than to accept her sister's offer to go live with them back in West Virginia. .Will Delilah have the faith and wisdom to put aside her old dream in order to have a chance for true love. Read on folks. This is one fantastic novella.

I do recommend this book for ages 14 on up. There are no sex scenes or cuss words in it. it is just a good, clean story.
I know you will love it as much as I have,.

Sarah Loudin Thomas is a new writer on the fiction scene and a very good one. In the prequel, Appalachian Serenade, she sets the stage for the blessing trilogy to come. Miracles occur when we least expect it and sometimes from the unexpected hand.
Thomas pulls the reader into West Virginia through scenes, word choice, and personalities. Will Delilah, the widow returning from a bigger city, make Wise, West Virginia her hometown? There's Robert, the shopkeeper. What happens when two women absorb his thoughts? Does God only provide large miracles or is his presence seen in the small things?
Like the Appalachian creek Delilah wades in, Thomas is refreshing, moving us from one snapshot to the next. A serenade is soothing but has unexpected turns--just like Sarah Loudin Thomas promises in this prequel.

This story was about a woman whose husband died and goes home to live with her sister's family. As the progresses she finds work in the local county store and eventually falls in love with the stores owner. This is a Christian novel that was absolutely lovely. The story was smooth and heart felt. I sincerely hope Ms. Thomas writes many more books.

I just loved the writing style - Ms Thomas draws you into the storyline and the lives of thr characters. I found myself rooting for Robert and admiring his courage at being transparent with Delilah. It was a great, easy read which left me grinning at the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy uplifting read. I'm looking forward to reading my next book written by Ms Thomas.

In her novella, Appalachian Serenade, Susan Loudin Thomas introduces Delilah, a widow, who is looking for a fresh start. Due to the influx of returning soldiers from World War II, Delilah is forced to move from Chicago where jobs are scarce. Her only choice is to live with her sister’s family in a small town in West Virginia. Will she find the fulfillment she is looking for there, or will this new beginning be more trouble than it is worth?

Appalachian Serenade is the prequel to Susan Loudin Thomas’s debut novel, Miracle in a Dry Season. The novella was a short, fast, and appealing read. I appreciated the small town feel of the story, and the setting was enough to keep me interested. There were no surprises along the way, but the journey was enjoyable. There was warmth to the story, and I liked the period in which it was set. It will be interesting to see how the story further unfolds in Miracle in a Dry Season.
