Disappointing & Incomplete 1 février 2015
Par T. Weber - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Achat vérifié
The content is impressive. Very scholarly approach. I doubt you could find this information on any other single location. However, I have to wonder if this is a professionally printed product. Its technical failings are obvious. The most disappointing aspects, and this is unfortunate since it affects the readers enjoyment and ability to correlate information, are the graphics. Maps, photos, and illustrations are all blurry. It's as if they suffered from an out-of-focus camera. The inability to take a reference from the text and correlate it to the provided map, because the map is so blurred, really deteriorated my enjoyment of the book. Considering the price, I would have expected first-rate quality - and this is not. At least the type is legible. Unless actions are taken to reprint this book and correct the obvious failings in the graphic content, I cannot recommend anyone spend their money on this book.
Worst graphics I have seen in decades 16 juillet 2014

Two stars off for the worst graphics I have seen in decades. Sorry, it is that bad.

There are plenty of photos, but they are worse than newsprint resolution. Some look like registration-failure type of misprints you used to see in the daily papers.
Maps and diagrams are pixelated- you can actually see the squares form the fact that the graphic is so much worse than the printing technology.

Ridiculous, especially when a less expensive book like "Cognac: A Liguid History" can include art-book quality full color photos.

Use the Look Inside feature and realize that the pictures shown don't look like they do because of your monitor, they really are that bad.

The information is A+.
Presentation, other than the visuals, is B.
Nonetheless, A+, B, and F = C (3 stars) I'm just flabbergasted that anyone would let their book get trashed in this fashion.
I like the title! 28 février 2015

I have both of this guy's books. There's not a lot out there in english on these spirits. The writer is obviously schooled in the topic. However, I must agree with the other reviews. They read like field notes and the graphics look like the five hundredth copy of a mimeograph- indecipherable. Dated, of diminishing (if any) usefulness. Perhaps worth a glance if you are a collector and trying to name-check your cellar, or are planning a crawl of the regions of production, but otherwise, don't.
Probably the most professional book on Armagnac today 16 février 2009

This book give the reader a very good review of the various producers of armagnac. Its a must for the people innvolved in the spirit industry and it covers most aspects of the business.

I liked the info on blending and ages, but it was not presented in a "modern" manner - rather old fashioned "notes". However, it did enable me to find a more interesting armagnac. so it was worth the money....
