I love this book so much I got a feeling of hope and sorrow but most of all I could really relate to the characters in the books. I felt Alexis pain of being an outcast, because I am. But I love how at the end she became the best she could be and that's a lesson we all have to learn.

LOVED this series! 11 novembre 2012

After reading the first book in this series, I wondered how it was going to be possible to continue without the same story over and over again. That is definitely NOT the case with this series. Every book is different while staying with the same paranormal theme. This one was by far my favorite.

Girls that Alexis knows start disappearing and ending up dead. She is also looking like the main suspect thanks to the not so friendly ghost of her old frenemy Lydia. But Lydia swears that it isn't her causing all of the ruckus. Now Alexis is on the hunt to find out why these girls are being murdered and why whoever is doing it wants it to look like she's the bad guy! The story is addicting and the end will surprise you! I don't think it could have ended any better, actually. I don't know if there will be another one, but if there is I will be waiting!

I've probably said this already but Katie Alender is one of my favorite authors now. The ONLY thing I don't like about these books are the covers, but even the first cover is what caused me to pick it up in the first place. They don't make sense in the beginning but then after you read them you completely understand the meaning behind them. I loved this series, and I'm sure you will too!

As Dead as It Gets 19 mai 2014

Am I the only one who disliked this book, in contrast to the other two? It was underwhelming, and was chaotic and all over the place.

As Dead as It Gets takes place right after the events of book 2. Alexis Warren can now see dead people, including Lydia Small (who had died three months ago, in the second book). This causes her to give up her hobby of taking photos.

Now that Carter Blume has broken up with her, and has started dating some girl on the student counsel, Alexis has moved on and started dating Jared (in my opinion, Jared was really sweet and lovable character in the last book), while still pining for Carter.

Girls are disappearing and two of them have been found dead so far. Every time a girl disappears, Alexis keeps on finding yellow roses.

What I really enjoyed in the past two books have been Alexis' dynamic relationship with her sister Kasey, Carter, and her best friend, Megan Wiley.

In this book, we get to see none of that.

Megan and Alexis' relationship is strained due to Megan's wanting to not be associated with the paranormals anymore. She evens gives Alexis an ultimatum when it comes to their friendship: to give up the paranormals and come to her seminars (full of people from cult worshipers to other random extents) held by a man hellbent on preaching people to give up their ways.
Megan was an amazing character in the first book, and while she wasn't as involved in the second, I had hoped that she'd at least be a pivotal character in the third book (since things have returned to normal after the events of the second book). It didn't.

Carter had decided to take a break from Alexis in the second book, and has moved on. Although every scene between Alexis and Carter has Carter running to Alexis and it shows that he's clearly not over her. It's silly how Carter quickly "jumped" onto another girl, when all he really had to do in the first place was talk it out with Alexis. Perhaps then, they wouldn't have had their silly, trivial thing going on with the two obviously pining on each other while still not willing to give up their own respective significant others.

Kasey has grown up a lot and becomes mature, pretty, and popular. I thought she'd at least be understanding towards Alexis when it comes to the supernatural and paranormal, which she is to a certain degree, but she's rarely involved at all.

In this book, we're also introduced to new characters, such as Elliot. Elliot was an amazing character.
We also get to see Jared more fleshed out from the previous book. (In the end, I was really sad to see how quickly his character development derailed. (He ended up being a nutcase).

The romance in this book was lackluster and weak (compared to the first book), and the plot itself was too chaotic: too many people getting killed, too many plots happening at once (and how the author tries to make it coincide together), Alexis being the scapegoat for so many bad things and actually accepting it, and etc made this book less compelling.

In the end, it was very bittersweet. Not the ending I was hoping for, not a bad one either.
