Amazing (or should I say "astounding") to be able to obtain and read this replica of John Campbell's first issue editing Astounding Science Fiction. I have been an "Astounding" reader for over 60 years and Campbell has been a hero to me. Quirky and opinionated as he was, he edited the best SF on the planet for many years. I was only four years old when this issue came out but I have heard many times that it marked the beginning of the "Golden Age." After buying and reading this wonderful, in the literal sense of the word, magazine, I can well believe that this was the milestone it is purported to be. It contains Isaac Asimov's first story to be printed in Campbell's magazine and the classic "Black Destroyer" by A.E. van Vogt, which inspired the movie "Alien." Also a story by C.L. Moore, a favorite writer of mine. All these authors played important roles in the development of science fiction in the next 25+ years. If you are a fan of SF and would like to see where the golden age began, by all means get this book while it is still available.
