3.0 étoiles sur 5 Cute, but not as great as I wanted it to be 13 décembre 2011

Once I saw that this was a continuation of Until the Full Moon, my curiosity was piqued. The ending for the previous manga was pretty open ended, so there's lots that could be done with the storyline.

First the good. The artwork here is really great to look at. It's not the uber stylized artwork that was in the first series, but since this is an ongoing manga rather than a 2 volume set, that's understandable. The general idea of the story is good as well, with Marlo and David trying to figure out where exactly they stand with one another and how to successfully have a marriage when both previously identified themselves as straight and Marlo is only female once a month. There's the introduction of a new rival for Marlo's affections (natch), which made for some cute scenes.

It's just that at times the "same old same old" patter between some of the characters would occasionally get annoying and I occasionally wondered whether or not this would succeed as an ongoing series. I'm trying really hard to separate this from the original series, but unfortunately it's inevitable that at some point I'll end up comparing the previous series with this one. Overall this was fun to read but unlike the first series, I'm going to stick to getting this one from the library and/or reading it at the bookstore before I invest in this series. It's good, but it just isn't great.

The bottom line is that this is a cute series but unless the next volume picks it up a notch, I'm not sure that it can sustain itself for multiple volumes.

They've re-released Until the Full Moon with new covers & a new 2 part bonus story. You can see what I'm talking about most clearly by looking at that, the artwork has changed a bit style wise, it's most noticeable with Marlo. Like I said the style of this book is a bit different from the 1st 2 volume series. Whoever is doing the translating etc keeps skipping words here & there, mostly things like 'the' so it gives it a kind of pigeon English feel at times.

@Full Moon is a sequel series to Until the Full Moon (Until the Full Moon 1). Sanami Matoh's (also the author of FAKE) art style has drastically changed over the years. It took me a while to get used to the softer, more rounded lines that she used. When I first started, I missed the strong, sharp lines (especially the eyes) that she used to use; but as I read on I forgot about the different art style and focused on the story. By the time I finished the two volumes I could appreciate her new art style.

The story tells of the adventures of married life for Marlo and David Vincent who get kicked out of their house and end up moving to a new town. While you do see a bit of the relationship between Marlo and David, it focuses mainly on new characters. The new characters all have the hots for Marlo (except for one who kidnaps David). While it was entertaining, and I'd love to get to know these new characters better, all there is are these two volumes. The series falls short of having an ending. While it was good and I liked it more than I thought, it leaves you feeling unfulfilled because there's no continuation. I would only recommend this to fans of Until the Full Moon.
