The ATFS Annual was first published in 1951 and has been in its present format for the past 16 years. It has been edited throughout that time by Peter Matthews, the eminent TV commentator and co-publisher of Athletics International. It is known within Track and Field as the 'bible' of the sport, much as Wisden is in cricket and Rothmans is in football. The annual contains a comprehensive review the 1999 World Championships in Seville, articles on aspects of the sport, biographies of 700 leading athletes country by country and exhaustive lists of performances both in 1999 and all-time. It also contains results from the 2000 World Cross-Country Championships.
