Présentation de l'éditeur

We’re the D’Artigo sisters: savvy half-human, half-Fae ex-operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. My sister Camille is a wicked-good witch with three sexy husbands. My sister Menolly is a vampire married to a wildly hot werepuma. And me? I’m Delilah, a two-faced werecat and Death Maiden. The Supe Community is in danger, and now it’s up to us to unravel a mystery to which we may not want the answers…

When two vampiric software engineers approach us about a missing colleague, we don’t expect to find much. But then Grandmother Coyote steps in and our simple missing persons case rapidly devolves into a nightmare of debauchery, slavery, and corporate greed. Now, we must infiltrate and destroy an underground organization of influential men, led by the mysterious Lowestar Radcliff, before they discover we’re on to them. But one misstep puts our whole operation and our lives in peril, and I must unleash my powers as a Death Maiden, even if it means destroying someone I love.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Where is the end? 27 septembre 2013
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
This is what I wondered at the last page.
When I turned the page, I expected a new chapter. Instead there was the glossary.
This books introduces many new plots, but there is very little progress made in any of those plots. Earthside, the main plot is a slave ring linked to a daemonic cult. At the end they just confirm the abduction of a Fae woman is linked to this, and get a little more intel, but take absolutely no action against this group. /spoil/ Meanwhile the Wayfarer (menolly's bar) is torched with the staff and clients inside and the sister discover they have human familly. No progress concerning the culprits. The events mostly afect Menolly, not Delilah. In the Otherworld , the sister assist to an attack against the elvish capital. They are quite powerleess during this event. /end of the spoil/
Many things happen in this book but the sisters mostly witness events and achieve nothing. In the previous books, there was always some avchievements, even when the same enemy remained in many books.
This book is clearly a transition, and this is a little disappointing.
Otherwise the book is quite good

I really rate this book 2.5 stars and the extra half is because I am so invested in this series. Three new issues were revealed in this book, but not one was resolved. I can't even say that there was a cliffhanger ending, because the story just stops. I got confused for a second when there was no new chapter to follow the final sentence. The book also veers from the usual pattern of each book following a different sister. We spent just as much time with Camille as we did with Delilah. If not for the sex scenes with Shade there would have been nothing about this story that made it Delilah's. Also at this point there are to many damn characters. At one point Delilah and Camille realize that they forgot all about maggie, and to be fair who can blame them. Between worrying about themselves, their sisters, Iris, Bruce, Iris' twins, Iris' mother-in-law, Nerissa, Menolly's daughter what's her name, Roz, Vanzir, Smokey, Trillian, Shade, Chase, Sharah, that Karask chick, Grandmother Coyote, Bran, Derek, Chrysandra, the couple that owns the coffee shop, Tim the former transvestite, Tim's husband, Trenyth, Asteria, Carter, Tad, Albert, Sephreh, and their new found cousins Daniel and Hester, who could fault them for letting Maggie slip their minds.

There were to many characters and to many mysteries/adventures. Find a out what's up with the evil building, find a missing elf, and deal with the beginning of a war. I understand the war is the beginning of a new story arc, but the building and the girl issues should have been resolved. Some characters die, but as you see from my list above there are so damn many it was hard to care, and those aren't even all the players in this story. I really felt cheated with this book, I hope the next one gets back on track.

*****************************************************spoilers********************************************************

I wish Sharah had been the one to die, because that character is useless. The more time spent developing her the less sense she makes. Starting with her and Chase. I hated that they got together, he was supposed to be getting his head together but then he is screwing her? I still think Sharah set Delilah up to find Chase screwing his ex so they would break up. Then she pops up pregnant. What?!?!?!? Otherworld has the best birth control ever. You go to a "witch" and she stops your fertility until you go back and get it. If the D'Artigo sisters could afford it, surely a princess could. Not to mention regular old condoms. It seemed to me she got knocked up on purpose. But then we learn she never had any long term plans for Chase anyway because she's supposed to marry some Elf dude for political reason's and she knows she can't bring her baby "home" because half breeds aren't accepted at court. Which again made her getting pregnant idiotic. And when Delilah gave Chase the suck it up talk I could have screamed. What the hell was Delilah talking about. Sharah abandoned her new born baby. Period. She could have said if you want me to rule than my man and baby are part of the deal. But she didn't, because she never had any intention of including them in her world.

Delilah and Camille were also getting on my nerves when they kept whining about the war. Yes they were there, yes they were in danger. But after a couple of hours with only a few scrapes and bruises they went on they merry little way back earth side. They took long hot showers, ate warm fresh food, and slept in their cozy beds. After a while it was ridiculous, we get it you saw bad things. But your father, Queen Asteria, and thousands of other people are dead, with more injured, homeless, and stuck in a war zone. Focus on that. Also why did they decide to meet the cousins? They know that they and anyone associated with them are targets so what was the point of dragging innocent strangers into their drama?

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Maybe time to retire these characters.... 29 septembre 2013

I love this series and I love how she changes up the viewpoint in each story, but this novel simply told told told instead of showing. I felt as though this were really the outline for the novel rather than the novel itself. The sex was totally gratuitous and none of the characters seemed in character. I also am not bothered by any kind of language, but the abundance of cursing in odd places made the book feel childish. I was disappointed and I may be done with this series....

There were a lot of aspects to this book but it ended without closing any of the story lines. This left the story feeling incomplete and a disappointment to me.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Way too much going on, good luck thing to keep track of everything.. 25 novembre 2013

As most of the other reviews have stated, this book was a bit of a let down. I've always enjoyed how each book is from a different viewpoint but this one just didn't do it for me. There is now so much going on that at times during the book I had to stop & try to remember "what problem does this enemy bring to the table again?". It was just too much. So much left unresolved, so much to try & keep track of. I applaud the authors ability to keep it all straight. There also seems to be too much "filler", via the sex scenes. I'm all for a steamy bout of sex but too many scenes equals me skipping over it to get to the actual plot.I fear there will end up being way too many issues that need to be resolved & thus the author won't be able to give proper attention to each one, so we will end up with sloppy, half assed resolutions or a few good "fixes" & a whole lot that just couldn't be resolved. Either scenario is unsatisfactory.I hope the next book will cut out a good portion of what's currently piled up high on the girls' plate, that way we can focus on the main issues, namely the impending war. This is such a great series that I won't let one or 2 not so great books deter me from buying the next book but if they continue in this fashion,I might just have to give up on our dear sisters...

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Major Turning Point In Series But Not My Favorite 23 octobre 2013
Par Mel Thomas - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Format Kindle|Achat vérifié
I'm a huge fan of Yasmine Galenorn's Otherworld series and Autumn Whispers was a major turning point for the D'Artigo sisters. The scales of good versus evil certainly shift in this installment. So much action, death, and destruction.

I guess I should mention that Delilah is my least favorite of the sisters so I wasn't surprised that her book kinda fell flat for me. I was more interested in what was going on with Camille and Menolly than Delilah. That being said, this was a better read than Delilah's last book, Shaded Vision. Kitten has grown by leaps-and-bounds and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her working her Death Maiden duties.

So what was my issue? There was no resolution to any of the problems introduced in Autumn Whispers. While I understand that this is a new story arc, I would've liked a proper ending.

My issues with Delilah aside, I look forward to the next book in the Otherworld series and hopefully getting a little resolution to their current problems. Major things happened to Menolly in Autumn Whispers and I'm curious how they are going to play out in Crimson Veil.
