Présentation de l'éditeur

Mix chick lit with gay lit and add a dash of mystery: Back Down to Earth is the second novel by Andy Sexton, the author of Head in the Clouds Much? – which hit the #1 spot on Amazon’s Gay Fiction chart in 2013.

Back Down to Earth picks up the story of Louis Lawrence, a year on from the events of Head in the Clouds Much?

Now thirty-one, Louis Lawrence sets about changing his life to reflect his new-found maturity. OK, so the ‘new Louis’ hasn’t fully conquered his untimely urges, and he still believes he has two brains – one masculine, one feminine – but he is determined to show everyone that past events have turned him into a proper grown-up. He believes the best way to do this is to move out, find a boyfriend and settle down: the three-step plan to happiness.

As he realises that living at home with retired parents is a total turn-off for potential partners, Louis moves in with a friend of a friend, hairdresser Nisha. Step One complete. Due to a shortage of decent men, Louis reluctantly takes his mate Dean’s advice and decides to give online dating a whirl. It is on the dating website FishAMate that Louis meets Irish charmer Aiden, who soon becomes part of Louis’s new life. Step Two complete.

With everything running smoothly for Louis, his quest to reach Step Three is halted by a bizarre sequence of events. This, coupled with the unwanted return of a familiar face, threatens to destroy Louis’s future happiness. Will Louis finally get the ending he dreams of, or will he be forced to run away once more?

* “Louis Lawrence is like a gay Bridget Jones,” said nobody ever.

Biographie de l'auteur

I was born at an early age to parents who named me Andrew. After fleeing Essex, we settled in Hampshire, England. Ever since I was a boy of seventeen, I’ve been taking note of things that I find funny or intriguing. There was no reason why I started doing this; I just did it. I’m a bit weird like that. Leaving my notepads in a cupboard seemed a bit of a waste. So, after having a pre-midlife crisis in my late twenties, I decided to put my jottings to good use. Four years after I started writing my first novel - Head in the Clouds Much? - I released it into the world as an eBook. A year later I did the same with my second novel - Back Down to Earth. Andy

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Lou's emotional age catches up with his chronical age 11 juin 2014

I read and reviewed the author's debut novel "Head in the Cloud Much?" in November of last year, also giving it a five star review. I re-read the first novel before launching right into this one. I'm glad I refreshed my memory. Although this novel can stand well on it's own, the reader will be cheating themselves not to enjoy the two back to back.

This book finds us a couple of years, almost, down the road and Lou, while still working in the same job (a good thing), has had a few more life growing experiences to help him catch up, emotionally, with more of his peers. We get to see him enter the first relationship of his life and watch as he navigates through family, partner and work relationships a bit more smoothly with a little more experience and stability under his belt. I like this guy, Lou. I related to his stumble bumming through his twenties and then pulling himself more together as he entered and began to live his thirties. There is also a bit of an on going mystery that needs solving during this book as well as more romance for Lou.

Re-reading the first book and then going right into the second book really put me in touch with Lou and all of the secondary characters in a way I might have missed if not for reading the two together. I tripped over the second book accidentally in the Amazon feed when it was a free download, so that was nice.

Readers might miss out on this gem because of a quirk that the author might want to work with Amazon to fix. When I read the first book, I clicked on the like button for the author and the bit that tells Amazon to let me know when the author has published another book. I never heard from Amazon when this sequel was published. In addition, I checked back on the author's page quite a few times to see whether he had published the sequel in January, as promised. Nothing showed up. Still today, if you try to go the author's page from the first book, "Head in the Clouds Much?", it still only shows that first book on the author's page. When you click on the author's page from "Back Down to Earth" you see them both. So if the author hadn't offered the second book for free when I was looking for a deal, I'd likely have given up looking for it and figure the author had decided not to publish anything else. I hope he can get that quirk fixed as others are likely to miss out as well.

Overall a pleasant read that I enjoyed very much.

I was quite disappointed as I wanted things to go well for Lou, the MC. In a way, I was glad to get to the end. I would have liked more dialogue and interaction instead of Lou just telling me what had happened. I didn't actually guess the outcome of the story though, so that was a good point.

Another enjoyable read. Looking forward to Lou's next adventure.....misadventure.... in his search for true love. Well developed characters and here's hoping Lou finally meets his true love.

I had a totally different take on this book before I started to read it. Though not great this book was a cute read.
