The last thirty or so years has led to the conversion of the land from largely agrarian to a more suburban and urban environment. The result has been a substantial loss of food and shelter for the birds of the region.
For the sake of birds and, in turn, for the best interest of man, it is important for homeowners to do what they can to make up for this debilitating loss. Bird feed and shelter is especially important during the brutal winter months of the Northeast when the bird's caloric intake has to increase but the supply of food has dwindled.

Elmer Waldemar Eriksson has been involved in horticulture, landscape design, and husbandry for over forty years. He travels to craft fairs in the northeast selling the birdhouses and birdfeeders he has designed and built. He is retired and lives in Salisbury, Connecticut with his wife Audrey.
