5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great handbook. Everything you need, nothing you don't. 13 août 2014

This is a great little book. It tells you exactly what you need, from specific tools to yard requirements. It also gives a heads-up on tricks it would have taken me a long time to figure out regarding the most efficient organization of yard space. The section on individual crops is really straightforward and looks much easier to reference than the lengthy explanations I've seen in the past, or the collection of notes made on seed-packs I have used because I didn't want to search through those lengthy explanations. I don't know if I'm quite ready for goats or bees yet, but when I am I will certainly use this as a resource. Chickens, I think I can handle and I found everything I need to get started with them in the book. I would totally recommend this as a resource for anyone who wants to start a mini-farm, even if they've never gardened before.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent Book on Creating Your Own Garden and More 13 août 2014

I love this little book! It's just what I've needed to help me weed out my own novice garden. It is simple and intelligent and provides just the right information -- not too much. We've started our garden, but it's gotten a bit messy. The information in this book will help us straighten it out. We would love to have our own chickens and from the description in this book, it doesn't look too difficult. We may jump in. Of course, we'd love to have bees, however, we really need to take one project at a time. It's a complete book and, I think it will be a great help to those who have children in their family. Our kids are grown. Our neighbors have goats. That looks enterprising, but again, it may be too much for us. No pigs or cows for us either. Growing a healthy, plentiful garden with a few chickens providing eggs will be just right for us. I thank the author for guiding us through the usual maze on the subject of backdoor gardening. It gives me hope that either will be coming up rosy, even when it's something to eat. Good book and I highly recommend it.

This book teaches you everything there is to know about backyard farming, I’m thinking of moving to the countryside and would definitely love to have a backyard farm when i get there, this book shows the benefits of backyard farming and teaches you how to set up your farm, the land space, the tools and other stuff that you might need and how to plan your garden. It teaches you how to choose the perfect site for your crop with quality soil The planting tips are really helpful too. It also teaches you how to rear micro livestock that would not only be a source of meat and but also fertilizer for the plants. It even teaches you how to raise bees.I’m definitely looking forward to moving soon

This book is, by its very nature, an introduction to this lifestyle. Very informational and actionable straight away. That said, there is far more comprehensive information in this book than in any other book I've found on this subject.
The writing style of this book is very conversational and easy to read. The author explains the concepts well and the book holds your attention. Great job.
