Présentation de l'éditeur

When did save a life become change a life?

Bad in Baltimore, Book 3

As the openly gay middle son of the most powerful family between Manhattan and Miami, Gavin Montgomery knows his role—look good in a tuxedo and don’t make waves.

Waves are the least of his worries when he tries and fails to keep a friend from jumping off a high bridge. His last thought as he falls in too is that someone else will have to take over as family disappointment…until he’s pulled from the water by a man with an iron grip, a sexy mouth and a chip on his shoulder the size of the national deficit.

Police rescue diver Jamie Donnigan finally has life the way he wants it. Okay, he could have done without losing his father, quitting smoking and watching his friends drift into couplehood. At least he’s managed to escape that particular trap.

When Gavin’s father turns Jamie’s routine rescue into a media circus, he figures if he’s going to suffer for his good deed, he might as well enjoy a roll in the sack. But Jamie’s not immune to Gavin’s cultivated charm…and all the risks that come along with giving in to it.

Warning: Includes above the recommended daily allowance for snark, attitude, stubbornness and a variety of scorching hot sex (even for this author).

#Spoilers in review#

While waiting at the doctor's office this afternoon, I read this on my Kindle. Normally, I know what to expect in a K.A. Mitchell and lots of it. But for "Bad Attitude," I have to admit I was overwhelmed with the AMOUNT of sex scenes, especially when some of them did nothing to advance the plot between Gavin and Jamie, i.e. threesome sex party scene. Now I am the first to admit I don't read m/m/m. Why? Because of the exact reason why I did not like this scene: it always seems to be sex between two guys with a third as the "middle man," trying to advance the romance between the main characters. But in this instance it did not work. I disliked Gavin and Jamie after the scene with Tommy, who I felt was used like a blow-up doll. Tommy was a throw-away character and the scene did nothing to build the ROMANCE between Gavin and Jamie in my opinion. And quite frankly, it wasn't even hot. YMMV.

However, I could have gotten over that if I had felt any connection to Gavin or Jamie in the story, but Gavin was Too Stupid to Live in some instances (his friend Beach) and Jamie too emotionally withdrawn throughout much of the story to give me any insight into their characters. I think if there had been more plot, less sex, I could have understood Gavin and Jamie, maybe even gotten to like them. But 80% of book is sex (were these guys on Viagra?), 10% Eli and Quinn, 10% plot and that is not enough to win me over. (Sorry fans of Eli and Quinn, I have to admit I like Kellan and Nate so much better. *g*)

Lastly, since Baltimore is my hometown and I spent 35+ years living there when Uncle Sam wasn't sending me all over the world, there are some glaring wrong assertions about the area in the book. Yeah, yeah, I know not important to the average m/m romance reader, but a couple of things just made me shake my head in disbelief. If an author doesn't live in the region they are writing about, then they really need a homegrown fact-checker. (No, not volunteering, just saying!)

Unfortunately, not my favorite KA Mitchell book. I still think "Bad Company" is my favorite. Hopefully the next in this series will have less sex and more plot. Heck, I'd take half and half at this point.

I guess I don't need to worry about being spoilerish since another reviewer posted about a scene from the beginning of their relationship which really didn't do it for me. That's just my personal preference, I don't like M/M/M. This obviously wasn't cheating since they both wanted it, but I was a little surprised to find it in the book since a lack of monogamy and wanting to being loyal to only their partner was such a prevalent theme of her previous book (which I enjoyed), Bad Boyfriend. But really, the main problem is that there wasn't much plotline. Also, I didn't really connect to or like either of the main characters. It just kind of dragged along, and I found myself skipping sections to see if things were going to pick up somewhere. It didn't, and it ended abruptly, without feeling like either character grew much. I gave it three stars, even though I didn't really enjoy it, because I feel this author is a talented writer, just had a bit of a clunker with this one. Plus, I want to be fair since my personal preference for what I like to read might be coloring my viewpoint.

I didn't hate it, but I did hate the way it ended. It needed an epilogue. What is with Authors that just end their books, especially this book. I don't know if this is a HFN or a okay for the minute ending. I understand Jamie's fears and reasonings behind his actions but we never find out why Gavin feels the way he does. I don't even know why they fall in love with each other. We do get to see the characters from the last two books but other than them the side characters for this book were made to seem important to the story, especially Gavin's stepmother, but then it went no where. Mostly there was just a lot of drawn out sex scenes and not enough story.

I loved the previous two books in the Bad series, and was excited to read the next installation. However, I was incredibly disappointed. I didn't feel any real connection between the characters, it was just sex scene after sex scene with little time spent adding actual substance to the relationship developing between the two main characters. SPOILER ALERT: Also, I have to say that it really turned me off when the main characters went to an orgy house on their second date, especially when the man who was married to one of the main character's sisters was there cheating on his wife with other men and there was no explanation offered. Overall, this book is disappointing compared to the others in the series.

I never thought I would write this, but please, Ms. Mitchell, may we have a little less sex and some more story, particularly the ending? I pre-ordered, suffered through people posting reviews TWO MONTHS in advance of the release date, so maybe I was anticipating too much.
