From AudioFile

Sandra Burr depicts Southwest tour guide Rainy Gordon in girlish tones in this romantic mystery. Fleeing a tainted past, Rainy confronts doubt and despair when she's suspected of thievery once again despite her claims of innocence. This time valuable Indian artifacts are missing. Duncan Hartford, her tour driver in training, who is characterized with a charming Scottish brogue, is compelling and delightful, although his budding romance with Rainy is founded on deceit. Burr also excels in her characterization of the criminal mastermind. G.D.W. © AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Not the quality of most Tracie Peterson books 7 juillet 2003

Maybe her other books had me spoiled, but this one never did hold my interest...ever.
Rainy Gordon and her twin brother are tour guides in the Southwest. Rainy is living with the ghost of accusation of theft. She spends her days among the very things she loves, yet has been accused- again- of stealing. She meets a man with similar loves and just when she thinks she has found the man God has picked out for her, she learns he has been paid to spy on her. Suddenly his attention and even his kiss mean nothing. Or do they?
I would still give Peterson the benefit of the doubt and purchase another book, but truthfully, this one was terribly, terribly lacking.

The third story in the Harvey Girl series was different and exciting. I enjoyed reading about a brother and sister team who found their dreams while working in the beautiful lands of New Mexico! Rainy and her twin sonny are both trying to find Gods will for their lives. Rainy has a secret and she is hoping that the past will stop trying to catch up with her. Sonny has realized his dream but is not sure how to embrace it without leaving his twin behind. This story has a mystery that kept me guessing throughout the book. I was both pleased and surprised at the ending. Tracie Petersen also gave an in depth description about the Hopi Indians and the problems they faced as a nation. I enjoyed this last story very much. As always I am looking forward to see what else Tracie has up her sleeve.

The characters were will represented. Would not of expected who was the villain. I love the Southwest and would have like a lot more description of the places they went and things they did. The story line was very good, just to long to get to the plot. Descriptions of pieces that were stolen would have been nice and how it was done under their noses.

Just finished reading book three of the Desert Roses series and found it to be another wonderful story by Tracie Peterson. Into about three fourths of the story, I thought Rainy the heroine was the weakest most wishy-washy female I'd ever read about! First she thought she loved Duncan, then this movie star, Phillip, showed up and gave her a little attention and since Duncan had not yet declared his love for her, oh! then maybe she loved Phillip! Well, Duncan WAS a little slow! Finally Rainy got with the program! I really liked Sonny, Rainy's twin brother and their parents, and I liked Duncan. The rest of the characters, I wouldn't give a plug nickel for! The background story was very interesting and very well written. I highly recommend this series!
