Blood, Guts, & Glory bridges the gap between the breakout operations in Normandy in August 1944, and the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 and January 1945. This is a very exciting time for American players. New equipment is finally arriving at the front. New Sherman models, such as the M4A3, are a definite improvement on the breed. There are a lot of new features on these new tanks, but I'll let their game stats do the talking! Suffice it to say that the might of American industry combined with solid engineering have finally come to bear on the Axis! Faster more reliable Shermans are now on the prowl, heavy assault tanks like the Jumbo with its massive front armour plates are bouncing even the best German anti-tank rounds, and the smooth ride of the new M4A3E8 'Easy Eight' gives the gunners the ability to accurately put rounds down range while on the move. Furthermore, new ammunition for the 76mm and 3in guns has arrived to help even the odds against thick German armour. The technological gap that the Germans enjoyed in the early years of the war has all but disappeared! Take all of these technological advances and excellent tank design

Having been a wargamer now for over 25 years the table top game Flames of War has taken me by surprise and outclasses all other games in the field. Of course it helps that I am also an armchair general with great interest in military history. The better you know the history the more fun the game is and the better you know the game the more sense military history becomes. For newcomers this book is not a complete game in itself, the game is played with minatures and you will need the core rulebook Flames of War - but if minature wargaming is your thing - then this is the best game I have played.
Blood Guts and Glory
This book has the army lists centering on the US Armored and Armored Rifles. It covers the period after the Normandy landings and on past the Battle of the Bulge. It features Shermans of all types, the old Sherman, the upgraded 76mm cannon, newer engines and then a few special and advanced types like the Jumbo (better armoured than the early Tiger) and Easy Eight which is the best at moving and firing. The Armored rifles also have an interesting list. With more men and firepower than any other platoon and half-tracks to boot these can give and take better than most and travel fast between places. Good support options all around and with Patton and Abrams (the one they named the current US MBT after) what more could you ask for? Well the Germans are suffering. Constant losses have lead to serious manpower losses and even if they still have some serious gear their skill and motivation has dropped markedly. This means you can field more but will run into serious problems when the going gets tough.
Over all a book destined to become a favorite.
