Par Julio Morales - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Album vinyle
Why haven't the record industry relase this album on CD as well as much of his imput from the 70's... this is probably the 2nd album Derek and the Dominos never made... with guess no other than George Harrison in some of the tracks... this is one album that a whole public needs to hear PLEASE!!!! Get this album to the masses...

excellent 18 septembre 2010

When Eric Clapton formed Derek and The Dominos in 1970 and made Layla, everyone went along for the ride. Deservedly so. The Dominos were the best session musicians around, and it is fantastic to see someone brilliant behind the scenes get their place and the son.

And if you know Layla--why else would you be here--you also have some idea of Bobby Whitlock's sound on this album. It has the same rustic country rock blues sound that Clapton, as well as Delaney and Bonny were nursing.

For a guy with such a baby face, Whitlock has a hell of a big voice. You'll here his fantastic singing here over this wonderfully organic music.

I don't know why,. but this came out on ABC Dunhill, a label unrelated to Clapton's, Atlantic

Sound on New Vinyl is Not Great 15 mars 2014
Par Astro Jetson - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Album vinyle Achat vérifié
I'm giving this five stars for the music. Bobby Whitlock's first album captures the same emotional and gritty vibe of Derek and the Dominos's Layla, which isn't surprising since Whitlock wrote or co-wrote nearly half the songs on that album. And his soulful voice is one of the greatest and most expressive in popular music. Like Layla, the music and performances on Whitlock's first solo effort are terrific. Unfortunately the sound on the new vinyl release is not good. The 180 gram vinyl is quiet, but compared to my near mint, original ABC/Dunhill release from 1972, the new release sounds compressed and has none of the inner detail and dynamics of the original. I'd advise trying to find a clean copy of the original rather than shelling out for the new vinyl.

Bobby Whitlock's best work 15 janvier 2011
Par WC Douglas - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Album vinyle
In 1972 I was stationed in Japan, walking through the Navy exchange record department. The Bobby Whitlock cover cought my eye. I picked it up and payed for it hoping I haden't waisted my cash. Not knowing he was the other guitar and vocal on Clapton's Delany & Bonnie, I droped it on my turn table and knew the voice at once. Needless to say I played it countless times and even taped it on a Teac 7030 GSL Pro. at high speed to save the record. To this day it is still one of my favorite records. If you like southern blues/rock, powerful vocals and great guitar you owe it to yourself to find a coppy. Why this album hasn't been remastered and offered on CD is beyond me.
