Don't look here for a serious study. 23 avril 2013

I have no idea why I bought this ridiculous book; I should be embarrassed to admit it. Maybe it was the use of Ian Stevenson's name in the subtitle, but I spent money on this and regretted it two pages in. I don't know why reading the "Look Inside" sample didn't ring alarm bells for me; it should have as it does state that the second section of the book involves cases "solved through my work with Kevin Ryerson, a world famous trance medium." Basically Semkiw works with a medium and his trusty spirit guide to identify cases of reincarnation among the rich and famous. J.K. Rowling/Charles Dickens is just one of the gems.

If the Table of Contents had been an option to view in the Look Inside feature, I know I wouldn't have bought this book. But that wasn't the case, and I can only warn others.

For real study of the subject try any Brian Weiss or Carol Bowman book. For a good in depth personal account look at either Across Time And Death: A Mother's Search For Her Past Life Children or my favorite:Looking for Carroll Beckwith: The True Stories of a Detective's Search for His Past . But don't waste your money on this drivel, or on anything else written by this author.

On the whole , a good book, which unfortunately got a little tedious toward the end--which made some of it hard to believe. I don't know what to think about spirit guides. Although the author came to trust Te Ahtun, I found the whole thing to be wild. Also, why do spirit guides have strange names? I know it was their name, but frankly I'd find a spirit guide named, "Joe" or "Frank" or "Melissa" a tad more believable.

I also was not impressed by Barbro Karlen. I thought she was a clever scammer. Most of the other people rang true though.

Good Book - repeats a bit. Great photographs which can make you actually gasp when you realise the significance. I enjoyed this book despite the fact I felt it read a bit like text book. I know, I know, it's written by an MD but that's no excuse. Reversing the images was a useful technique. Funnily enough I wasn't interested in famous people. If you believe or are interested you will really like this book - for the photos alone. Next time - in the expanded edition - more pics, more case histories please.

Fascinating and Credible Treatise on Reincarnation 3 juillet 2014
Par Nick Nolan - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
In "Born Again: Reincarnation Cases Involving Evidence of Past Lives" Dr. Walter Semkiw carries forward the investigative schema proposed by the late reincarnation pioneer, Dr. Ian Stevenson. Having read sections of Stevenson's "Twenty Cases Suggestive of Reincarnation," I was particularly pleased with Semkiw's more relaxed narrative and how it both kept my attention and was less stressful to navigate than Stevenson's largely scientific (and dry, sorry!) language. Semkiw's easy to understand schema (innate personalities and talents/phobias/facial architecture/attraction to geographical locations/etc.) for determining past life matches made sense to me and brought a deeper understanding to previously puzzling events in my own life. And for this alone, "Born Again" was pure gold.

As a medical doctor, Semkiw has been trained to find patterns, commonalities, and cause/effect relationships, so his application of this mindset in researching suggested reincarnation cases is especially elucidating; the sections in "Born Again" featuring Anne Frank/Barbro Karlen and James Huston/James Leininger are particularly compelling. Having also read Dr. Brian Weiss, Carol Bowman, Robert Snow, Dr. Jim Tucker, Tom Shroeder, Mary Elizabeth Raines, and Paul Von Ward, I was aware of places where Semkiw presents information that sometimes overlaps his colleagues' work--as well as his own from his other books. Hence I would never state that any of these authors are superior (or inferior) to another, because each is a pioneer in his or her own right...and if we can identify these commonalities between and among the aforementioned authors, would this not indicate how the community of reincarnation researchers is moving together toward scientifically testable hypotheses and conclusions?

Finally, regarding Semkiw's collaboration with Kevin Ryerson and the spirit guide Ahtun-Re, if you don't buy it then just skip ahead; "Born Again" presents a voluminous plethora of empirical, detailed, and useful information that more than stands on its own. Kudos to Dr. Semkiw for his vision, his exhaustive work, and his willingness to introduce us to, and to elaborate on, familiar theories and those of his own design. Five stars, and highly recommended.
