About the author
Rudy Burckhardt has exhibited his work widely throughout the United States since his emigration from Switzerland in 1935. His photographs are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Burckhardt has collaborated on several other books including: In Public, In Private (Dekker Press, 1946) with poet Edwin Denby; and New York Hello (Ommation Press, 1990) with Vincent Katz. Vincent Katz is a poet, translator, and critic. His most recent book is Pearl (powerHouse Books, 1998), a stunning collaboration with Boston-School artist Tabboo!. Katz's writing frequently appears in Aperture, Art in America, ARTnews, Flash Art, Interview, and Parkett.
