Présentation de l'éditeur

The first book in this series, Into the Darkness, is free!

Sasha has always known she was different, but now she also knows that the shadow men she’s seen all her life, are real.

With a life goal of fitting in, Sasha hopes her strange abilities will finally make true friendship a possibility. Unfortunately, her magic doesn’t function like everyone else’s. What she thought would make her belong, sets her apart now more than ever.

Stefan, all but promised to a different woman, has tried to keep his mind on his duties instead of the irresistible and free-spirited human. But when she is threatened, he can’t keep his distance any longer. He realizes he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe, and more importantly, make her his.

Just when one thing clicks into place, another spirals out of control. Stefan’s clan isn’t the only group that would benefit from an extremely rare type of magic. And their enemies will stop at nothing to get what they want.

After reading Into the Darkness I simple could not wait for the next installment of the Darkness series!

In Braving the Elements I felt we got a little more personal with the main characters we were introduced to in Book one. It was nice to understand them more and brought understanding to who/what their society was about.

We were introduced to Sasha's insecurities. We knew she had spunk, attitude and obviously a strong will, but what we didn't know was some of her insecurities with herself, her past and her constant need to fit and show her worth. With Charles now following her every move and constantly be scrutinized by those who were born and raised in the clan, her walls slowly start to crumble and we see her struggle to find just what the hell her purpose is. She gets mad, and trust me, you don't want to be on Sasha's bad side.

I must say that if Stefan can not make himself available for me that I will gladly take Charles. I LOVED his character in Braving the Elements. I found myself a little giddy when I knew a Charles scene was coming. He definitely grew on me and there were times I just wanted to hug him and take him off of Sasha's back for bit ;) There were so many times I couldn't help but feel so bad for him and laugh at his misfortune. Evil of me, I know, but he is just pure awesomeness.

Let's not forget about Stefan!! Oh Stefan *sigh*...

To see more of Stefan's POV was nice so we could understand his thought process and how he felt about his duty to his clan. We also saw insight on how he felt about Sasha versus his traditions/obligations. Stefan's harsh exterior soften up, opening himself up to the readers. As if we needed to love him more pfft.

This had a bit of everything! Comedy, action, sex, angst, suspense, anger, sadness and it was all well presented.

If you read Into the Darkness and felt a little in the dark and unsure please read them both back to back. As like any other first book in a series there are always questions left unanswered, consequences not delivered, and a little bit of chaos. Trying to fit the back story and build a present day plot is a lot to fit into one novella. You will find more is revealed and we can move onto the current development. Give it an honest try, please don't read it if you couldn't get through the first one (for whatever the reasons) and complain how it was a waste of your time and blah, blah, blah.

Absolutely LOVED this book and the first book in the Darkness Series, Into the Darkness! If you haven't read it please do and grab a copy of Braving the Elements. They are quick reads that will have you hooked and you will find yourself anxiously awaiting for book three with me!

PS. Stefan I want one too ;)

5.0 étoiles sur 5 I found my new book boyfriend <3 21 mars 2014

I think I'm in love. I almost don't want anyone else to read this book, because I don't want to share my gorgeous new book boyfriend. I found him first, he's mine!

If only.

Sasha and Stefan are back, in this anxiously-awaited, much-anticipated (is that redundant?) second installment of their story. If you haven't yet read Into the Darkness (the first installment), do so now. Like, right this very minute now.

I'm not even sure what to say that won't give away the story, other than "It's fantastic! Find a copy & read it, immediately." Assuming you already read book one, of course.

In this book Sasha has moved into the mansion and is attending school. Charles is still assigned as her protector, and I am continuously amused by their banter. School for Sasha consists of three classes, Elements, Weapons, and Incantations, and while it may sound Harry Potter-ish, it doesn't read that way at all.

I think most readers can agree that Sasha kicks major ass. She's smart, sassy, thinks on her feet, and has an inner strength that just wows me.

As for Stefan....Wow. Just, WOW.

He’s hulky big, tall, dark, GORGEOUS, decorated with symbol tattoos (I’m not a fan of pictorial tattoos), intelligent, kind, noble, a strong leader, absolutely brilliant with a sword, and an incredibly fierce warrior. And all that is with his clothes on! He is so wonderful that if we were the same gender I would likely hate him but since we aren’t.....<sigh> I find him super-dreamy.

Braving the Elements would make a fantastic movie. It has dramatic battle scenes, several interpersonal conflicts, action scenes, drama scenes, lots of humor, and a few super-hot sex scenes. That said, I hope it is never so popular that it gets made into a movie. Who could possibly play Stefan? He is physically huge and perfect, and his character is what most every woman wants: fierce, strong, kind, gentle, smart, considerate, and protective. Did I say all that already? I can’t help it. He is my fabulous new book boyfriend and I love him. He is the ultimate combination of the wild, hot, sex machine guy you date, and the kind of guy you marry and have a family with. Usually those two categories are mutually exclusive, but Stefan is the best parts of both kinds of men.

Best of all, he is not at all threatened by Sasha’s superior magic level. He is too good to be real, which is why he must stay in a book. And my fantasies, of course. But not your fantasies, please. Because he is mine. I found him first.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 The feel of this one is quite different from the first 9 avril 2014

So, the first book had a bit of a Karen Moning feel to it, almost urban fantasy/hint of romance, and it was edgy and interesting and you really wanted to know what was going on with the characters and why they had to do the things they did. This book took a huge left turn into YA PNR and it was jarring. I was hooked with the first book. But this book starts off with the main character in school dealing with high school angst issues (e.g., teachers or students who don't like her, issues with the school's dean/professor- AKA boss) and it centers on the whole she's so special (Harry potter) syndrome. Plus, there was the whole insta-love between the two main characters. There was very little basis for their sudden love that I could decipher (lust-yes, love-not so much). Don't get me wrong, this story was well written but I was not thrilled with it and I don't expect to get the next book.

I waited and counted days for this book. I'm so glad it was as good as I hoped. Thank you for not making this a cliffhanger, I don't think I would have been able to handle that.

Braving the Elements is my favorite kind of book. The kind of book that gives you fantastic, deep, interesting characters working their way through an intriguing challenge highlighted by brilliant dialogue and spruced up with some delicious sex.

Yeah. You heard me. Braving the Elements has all of that.

This book picks up essentially where Into the Darkness left off. Sasha has started training at the Mansion, Charles is her reluctant bodyguard, Stefan is gorgeous and distant and the bad guys are still trying to make everyone’s lives hell.

The biggest difference between this book and its predecessor is that it’s a character study. The whole book is one big character study instead of a big action, packed adventure. I love an adventure as much as the next girl, but I absolutely ADORE a character study. Especially when the characters are as wonderful as these.

It finally clicked for me when I was going back through and reading everything I had highlighted in this book what makes it really, truly stand out from many others in this genre. There’s no drama. There’s no main character with a hand to his or her forehead wondering why, oh why his or her life has to be so hard. Cursing the magic that has come to find him or her, wishing that life would just be easy.

Sasha spent most of her life already in that kind of drama. So when she FINALLY finds a world that doesn’t think she’s crazy, she’s ready to turn cartwheels. And that difference is so refreshing! I’m so tired of reading about characters that refuse to just embrace the magic and hang on for the ride. Sasha not only straps in and enjoys the adventure, she’s driving the damn car.

Sasha goes from slight deer in the headlights to burgeoning badass in this book. She is sassy and smart, learning how to channel her magic and by the end is a force to be reckoned with.

It’s entirely possible that Charles is my favorite character. I’m seriously crushing on him! He too went through a transformation in this book – from young and slightly oafish (but lovable) to strong, saucy and still utterly lovable. The dialogue between him and Sasha is masterful in its ability to so clearly represent two different paradigms while still creating an honest and heartfelt connection.

The Boss becomes Stefan (well, he’s always been Stefan, but we get to know Stefan instead of just The Boss). He’s an alpha male through and through, but there are moments where he shows such adoration and love for Sasha that my heart twisted. He’s an incredibly multi-faceted character that just continues to grow both in strength and depth.

K.F. Breene absolutely outdid herself with this book. The dialogue is whip smart, the feast for the senses is still there except amplified with the addition of the elements, the characters and their relationships became almost tangible with my investment in them.

Superb, cheeky and entirely too short. Buy a copy and read it, right now.
