Présentation de l'éditeur

NEW YORKS TIMES AND USA TODAY BEST SELLING AUTHOR TONI ALEO PRESENTS THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IN THE ASSASSINS SERIES

BREAKING AWAY is a story of loss, healing, and love… where unexpected turns and heartache lead to passion.

To Nashville Assassins’ leading scoring center Phillip Anderson, playing hockey has always been easy… as natural as breathing. His life is no different. That’s until his world is turned upside down by the death of his sister. While mourning his loss, Phillip has to find a way to make his very angry sixteen-year-old niece, Claire, happy. Now, as her guardian, he discovers the only thing that seems to heal her lonely heart is dance class. But what he didn’t count on was the attraction he’d feel towards her drop-dead sexy dance teacher.

For Reese Allen, dancing has always been part of her soul. After having her heart broken in New York, she comes home with the determination to make her dance studio one of the best in Tennessee and succeeds. When she sees Claire dance for the first time, she knows the girl is bound for greatness and takes the troubled teen under her wing. Using dance as therapy, she suddenly finds herself bound to the young woman… and her hot-as-sin uncle.

However, Phillip and Reese are happy in their single lives. It’s simple. They do what they want, who they want, and how they want, but from the moment they meet, the attraction is undeniable. Soon, they are more than willing to spend just one night tangled in the sheets. But, one night turns into two, and two turns into three, until they find themselves in a repeated dance of “One Last Time” that has the potential to be something more… if only Reese and Claire allow it.

Can Phillip find a way to thaw the hearts of both the women in his life, or will he be forever trying to break them away from their pasts?

Only 10% into this book and I dislike them all. Reese is a ho of epic proportions who thinks that a condom will keep her safe, Phillip is clueless and wants to sleep with the people Clair needs most, Clair is a brat and if Harper had fertility issues like this in Australia, where adoption can take 10 years and surrogacy is a legal grey area, she would be drowning in misery . I sure hope this gets better as I love the assassin series.

24% in and still irritated by Reese, I truly hope this improves. Wtf 3 days after sleeping with Reese, Phillip has another girl on her knees...I hope they all get cooties. Sexual health 101, both male and females can get an STI from unprotected oral sex, I am so sick of reading how "safe" they are because they have never had sex without a condom but perform oral sex on anyone and everyone. Now I am certainly no prude in my life or my reading and I am not afraid to push the limits on either, but yuck. If I hear Reese called a man eater instead of what she really is, a slapper, I'll scream. The fact that Reese couldn't see she has a serious problem even though most councillor would say if what you are doing affects your, job; the parents knew of her sexual behaviour, your family; her sisters were worried, your friends; both Shea and Erik called her cold hearted and man eater, and your relationships, she used men for sex. THEN YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.

Well I finally finished the book and still don't like Reese. What kind of a woman tells an impression able 16 yr girl that hasn't had a positive sexual role model that she is having a friend's with benefits relationship with her guardian? That said, I love the growth that Phillip makes, in both his relationship with claire and Reese. This man understands that he is worthy of love and not afraid to give it either. His patience and understanding of what the girls he loves need show a great maturity.

I love Toni Aleo and the assassin series but this story did nothing for me.

Re read this book just to make sure I was not in a bad mood when I read it the first time. Nope, only in a bad mood after. Still dislike Reese and after reading many reviews it seems while others liked the book they still didn't like her.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 New favorite in the series 10 juin 2014

I'm lying in my bed, it's 4:00 in the morning, and I just finished Breaking Away. This is going to be very different from my other reviews, mainly because my mind isn't where it normally is right now. Usually, I'd try to hit a few different points - An Erin-ified synopsis, the characters, the writing, etc. But I'll make this very short and sweet...

This is my new favorite in the Assassins series. No one could top Shea and Elli for me. The others came really dang close and specific scenes from each always stood out in the other books, but something about their story, it was always my favorite. Until now.

Reese and Phillip blew me away. I love that Aleo always has such creative storylines for each book. There is always a nice mix of humor and heartbreak. Angst and anger. Romance and sexiness. She's so good at writing these characters and their tales. Breaking Away has everything listed above, but something about this one... I just fell hopelessly in love with the characters and their story. You take two people who DON'T want a relationship and toss them together, what do you get? Not the casual fun they claim to share, that's for sure. They have a hot, "fun" relationship that should be no emotions involved. When both start feeling things they think they shouldn't, they're too scared to grab a hold and enjoy the ride.

Watching the relationship between Phillip and Reese change and mature over the course of this book was the best part for me. It wasn't this crazy roller coaster of a relationship, where everything is roses one minute and a hurricane the next. It wasn't a constant up and down. This was so different. It was a slow burner (even as a "slow burner", this book is HOT. No shortage there) until they just...boom. Ya know? Plus it's so much more than just those 2 characters together. It's Phillip's niece, Claire, and her love of dance. It's Claire and the bond she forms with Reese. It's Phillip taking responsibility for another person and the pride he feels for her. It's family, love, support, and everything that goes with that. It's not just a "hockey book", along with all of the others in the Assassins series. Although they do revolve around a hockey team and their families, it's always more in depth than just their sport. I will say though, she has taken a girl who didn't enjoy hockey at all, and kinda made me go "Hmm..."

Overall, I loved it. It's a new favorite, not just in this series but a new favorite as a whole. I can't wait for the next one and I desperately want this series to NEVER end. I wonder if that's do-able. Can I beg Toni Aleo to never stop writing about the Assassins? I'm gonna try. Her characters are like a drug, and I'm definitely addicted.

<3 Erin

3.5 I cant believe I'm giving this book and three star rating, why cant we have half stars??!! UGH! I love Toni Aleo I truly do but my dislike for Reese outweighs that love. Whenever she was mentioned in the other books all I could think was what a snotty bitch she was. I thought for sure this book would change my opinion of her, I guess it did in a way now she's just a weak, irritating, and slap worthy not so much snotty. I did however love Phillip and Claire and of course everyone else in the book. It was very hard to deal with her insecurities about love. "I'm emotionally unavailable" UGH get over yourself!! How can you be surprised that you fall in love with someone when you have sex with them constantly, you hang with them all the time, you miss them when they are not around, have meaningful conversations (just to name a few things)? Oh and please mention how hot she is 2 or 3 times in every chapter...loved that.

Had it not been for Reeses irritating personality I would have given this book a 5 star rating

This will definitely not keep me from reading her other books (like I said before I love Toni) but this was definitely my least favorite in the series.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 4.5 Reese's Pieces Stars! 10 juin 2014

I have loved every single book in this series so far and Breaking Away did not disappoint! Book #5 is Phillip Anderson AKA the “Pussy Killer” and the man eating b**** Reese Allens story. Both of these characters were in previous books and I was SO looking forward to Phillips story but I actually groaned at him being paired with Reese. Typically when I do not like a book its because of the heroine and the lack of connection I feel with her and I did not care for Reese in previous books. I admit, Reese annoyed me a bit but I grew to understand her and in the end LOVED her!

These two have no problem getting together in the bedroom. Their sexual chemistry burns through the pages. But what happens when a one time thing turns into more? And one person wants a relationship and the other is fighting their feelings? Add in Phillips sassy teenage niece, nosey friends and family members and you have another winner in the Assassins Series! 4.5 Stars!

Breaking Away can be read as a stand alone and it has a HEA. But let’s be serious here. If you have not read this series start from the beginning and read them all! I promise you will not be disappointed!

My FAVORITE line from the book (It’s cheesy but I swooned)

“Ever since I got your pieces in my mouth, it’s the only candy I ever want.” -Phillip

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Definately different vibe than others in series 13 juin 2014

The Assassins series is one of my favorites (have 4 favorite series right now). With that being said, I was so excited for this to come out with all of the hype from the facebook fan page but felt some dissapointment. After reading it, my thoughts were as follows:

1-had some obvious spelling/grammar errors that someone that has this much hype and success in the series, I expect it to be written perfect. Just an example, in the epilogue Phillip and Reese were at the birthday party and in the dialogue between them it is stated Claire followed his gaze and said "I know, but the real test is coming with her leaving." Clearly Claire should have been replaced with Reese. There were some other big obvious things I would expect to be corrected, especially if this book was paper printed.
2-I liked the steam of the story, yet it was very hot and cold for me a lot of times.
3-Reese really annoyed the crap out of me at times. I just find it hard to believe you are going to rule out marriage and kids for the rest of your life due to ONE bad relationship. Keep in mind, this was a relationship that didn't even make it to marriage. I don't see how someone can make that big of knee jerk decision without having experienced an actual marriage, engagement, or pregnancy. The bad relationship doesn't necessarily have any bearing on the outcome of marriage with someone else or raising a family. I don't feel what she went through with her ex would warrant this type of attitude.
4-I loved catching up on the rest of the Assassins family and prior characters
5-Claire brought a great aspect into this story and made the overall storyline interesting as it was a unique situation. If I were to just read about Reese and Phillip in this story and her dancing, I would have not liked it at all.

I have read all of the full length books in this series besides Fallon's story. Out of Elle, Audrey, Piper, and Reese's story, Elle and Shea still take the cake by a landfall for me as being one of my all time favorites. I had just re-read it before this one so maybe that is clouding my opinion. I will continue with the series, but I suggest more proofreading or have beta readers catch this stuff before putting it out live. Overall, great author! I would recommend this series if you like hockey, although this didn't focus very much on hockey as the other books have.
