Finally, all the working bells with change left over 20 septembre 2014
Par Michael Southworth - Publié sur Amazon.com
It's easy to get buried in technical terms i.e. Fully Multi-Coated Optics, PC-3 Phase Coating, Open Bridge Design, Rubber Armor but the simple truth is some optics equipment pulls all this together and some just market it...leaveing much to be desired when the product is actually in your hands. I am a professional guide of 31 years. I've purchased and used Burris, Leupold, Swarovski, Zeiss and a beautiful pair of Schmidt and Bender that I still use. We can add in Minox and Pentax that have been borrowed from peers as well for 3 day hunts. To their credit, and frankly my surprise, Bushnell has put all the positives into these Excursions with none of the price. I received these almost a month ago and have spent 15 days in the hills and some pleasant time on the porch. I paired these side by side with a set Leupold Acadia 8x42, a Burris Signature Series 10x42 and the Bushnell Legend - HD 10-42.

Bushnell can't make a spotting scope to save their life but maybe it's because they spent all the R&D on their Binocular Line. Sure, if you go the Walmart route under $100 then stick with the HS Football Game. Guided hunts start at 3K so optics is not where you would usually try to save a dime (frankly I'd rather you bring a cheap rifle!). That out of the way....the Bushnell Excursions are genuinely so good that I've set them in my pack as the go-to and that is without hesitation. This first pair was meant as loaners for clients. You would not believe how many times groups show up without a set of binoculars between the lot of them. "Well, I just use my rifle scope to glass at a distance". I don't dare say it but my thought is always "So you're going to point a loaded weapon at whatever it is you want to look at?" So the Bushnell Excursions were purchased to fill that need. Today I ordered another 2 pairs, 1 in 8x and 1 in 10x. My money comes the hard way so for me to order a total of 3 sets inside 45 days should be proof positive that Bushnell really got it right on this particular piece of gear. The Legend Ultra-HD is every bit as good and they've added the ED glass and H2O formula where water runs off better (think waxing your car) but it's pushing $90 more per pair for that feature. Nice, but honestly features that don't do me much. If it's raining we still hunt but visibility is such that any glass is restricted more by the elements than the quality of the binoculars themselves.

To sum it up. If you're on the fence about spending the coin for these (figure $120 with Amazon Prime which we use) then step off. You absolutely, positively cannot find a better piece of optics under $500. Even then, it's doubtful anyone (including myself) has the glassing ability, the set of young eyes and a portable tripod to take advantage of the miniscule amount of higher quality. We all want the big name gear and some of us own and use that "big name" gear. However, in the real world of paychecks these Bushnell Excursions get my money and my thanks. Your mileage may vary but I'm selling the Zeiss 8x42 and the Minox 8.5x10.5 to pay for some well deserved gunsmithing services. Now that I have the Excursions I just can't justify having 3K worth of other manufacturers glass collecting dust. Sounds good around the bar with those big names but the Bushnell product wins hands down....I just keep my mouth shut.

Best to you and yours,
Dutch S

A solid value in very good binoculars for watching birds or game 11 mai 2014
Par Sandstone - Publié sur Amazon.com
I ordered these binoculars without trying them with some hesitation for a trip to Alaska on which I planned to do some bird watching and general wildlife viewing. I had previously owned a pair of Bushnell Nature View 8 x 42 binoculars as well as several other pairs. I had a chance to try these out birdwatching around home, and am really pleased with them. I suppose one could find better in a pair of Svarovski's at ten times the price, but I found these bright, clear and of apparently sound construction. If they do die, Bushnell offers repair or replacement for just a $10 S&H fee. These binos are rated as fully waterproof and fogproof and they have fully multi-coated optics. As any good roof prism binocular should, they are made with BAK-4 prisms and PC-3 phase coating. Technicals aside, they do what they are supposed to do. After installing the neck strap and adjusting the diopter to my vision (which incidently offered plenty of adjustment even for my eyes, one of which works for distance and the other for close up) I set up a book across the room and could view the type brightly and clearly ...even at the edges of the field of vision. Light transmission is very good, which is a necessity for viewing wildlife at dawn or dusk, and especially for identifying birds in low light. I was somewhat concerned about stepping up to 10 power, as I realize that the field of vision narrows and the shakes are magnified, but I am really pleased that I did. I have little trouble holding the glasses steady and the additional detail is really a joy. There is plenty of eye relief for me to use these comfortably without glasses, and they feel solid and steady in my hands. They are not feather light but are comparable to what any decent quality pair would weigh at 23.5 oz. They also offer Bushnell's soft thumb grips like the higher end models. Included is a padded neck strap, soft protective bag (a nice protective feature if you choose to leave the case at home and put the glasses in your pack), a case that can slip on your belt (works great for holding my birding guide) and front and rear lens caps. The rear lens cap can attach to the neck strap and the front lens caps are far superior to those on the last pair of Bushnell's I owned. They attach around the lens barrels with a rubber ring and the cap firmly snaps over the lens or falls forward when unsnapped and is held by the rubber retainer ring. Just to make sure I didn't accidentally knock the rubber rings off the lens barrels, I put a drop of rubber cement on each one. Overall, I don't think you could find a better pair of binoculars for nature viewing at this price level. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Bushnell Excursion price can't be beat for quality and clarity. 3 septembre 2014
Par Sirhikesalot - Publié sur Amazon.com
I was skeptical at first, Bushnell in my mind is not on line with Leupold and Nikon for optic quality, clarity, and ease of use. However, Outdoor life gave this pair a extremely great review and made it one of their "Great Buys". So I purchased a pair, and my first thoughts are "WOW... what an amazing pair of bino's and for only $127.00 - many other stores sell this product at a higher or much higher rate of $199. The ease of use is amazing, compares to my Nikon Sporter II, the clarity blows my Nikon out of the water, and the weight is slightly less then my heavy pair of Nikon's but still has enough weight to keep steady. You will not find a better pair of bino's for the price guaranteed. I am not a product specialist, I'm just a hunter with a love for great glass. Plus, I can't afford to pick my nose lately so I had no other choice. If you are looking for a great pair of binocular's, with super clarity, ease of use, and at a great price you can't beat these.

Excellent product 7 juin 2014

I bought these binoculars for an upcoming safari. I researched extensively and decided on the Excursion HD because they had all the necessary quality features but were reasonably priced. I've used them to observe off my back deck and they are beautiful: great clarity, good size and weight, easy to operate.

Top quality binoculars 10 avril 2014

You are definitely getting what is advertised. These are high quality binoculars and are excellent for someone who uses binoculars regularly. For the casual user, this is probably way too much and for the sports user, it is too heavy.

When using this, I found the quality of view to be beyond excellent and the focusing is fairly easy. The only thing I will ding them on is the weight. This is a little on the heavy side for long time use (like at a football game). That is why I say it is for someone who wants the high quality, will use it alot and weight is not an issue (like for nature walks or bird watching).
