About the author
Dr. Lehman is a professor of Management in the Management & Information Systems Department at Mississippi State University where she has taught business communication for the past sixteen years. Dr. Lehman received bachelor's and master's degrees in business education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and the Ed.D. from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Lehman teaches the introductory business communication course, which serves as the upper-level writing requirement in an AACSB-accredited school of business, and a graduate-level multimedia presentations course. In addition to her regular classroom instruction, she has taught both these courses by distance using interactive video supplemented with web-based resources. To enhance her ability to teach by distance, she has developed course sites using World Class Learning and WebTutor on CT to accompany Business Communication, both powerful tools available from South-Western College Publishing. She has shared her distance experience in several presentations, panel discussions, training seminars, and a journal article entitled, Teaching Your First Distance Course. She has been recognized by her peers in the College of Business as a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Service Award. She was also recognized as the Continuing Education Faculty of the Year at Mississippi State for continuous commitment to nontraditional students and lifelong learning. Her service activities include consulting with business and conducting training seminars on oral and written communication, multimedia development and business presentations, and software applications. To ensure the relevance of her classroom teaching and each edition of Business Communication, Dr. Lehman is actively involved in research activities. She presents regularly at the international and regional conferences of the Association for Business Communication.
