Présentation de l'éditeur

Abel Wilder, werewolf Alpha, has gone missing, leaving his mate and the pack in a panic. His captor magicked his scent out of the sanctuary so that his mate can’t track him down. Only one witch can cast a spell that powerful.

James Faulkner has finally crossed a line that Elise Kavanagh can’t ignore.

Elise is going to have to hunt James down before the werewolf pack loses its Alpha and Rylie loses her mate. And Elise will have to find a way to make sure that James never bothers the pack—or anyone else—ever again.

En savoir plus sur l'auteur

Hi everyone! My name is Sara, and I write urban fantasy novels as SM Reine. I collect swords, cat hair, and typewriters (which I do use for writing!). It's a good day when those three things have nothing to do with each other.

If you would like to know the instant I have a new book available, you should enlist in my Army of Evil! We have a WICKED cool secret handshake, but you'll have to sign up to learn it. ;) Check it out --

3.0 étoiles sur 5 New Book, same problems 1 janvier 2014

This book follows the same format as the other ones. Elise is either hungry or wounded. Shes never at a hundred percent even after 4 books of this series. The author does adress the issue more but it should have been handled already. Im tired of reading about it.

Unlike the last book, Elise is barely in this book. Personally I like Elise much more than everybody else. James is a little better in this book but I still hate him. I skimmed through a bit of this book because some of the build up to the end didn't grab me.

The big picture story really started shaping up. The author had to jump around a lot, which I wasnt fond of, but it did put things into focus. The last 25% was really good. Made everything else worth it. The author really sets up the next book in a way that as much as this book frustrated me, I really want to read the next book.

If you go by the way the covers look for the books in this series, most readers will probably just pass on trying them out. This would be a grave error on your part if you like dark (really dark) fiction. The covers make the series look like a teen supernatural romance series a la Buffy (don't get me wrong BTVS was one of the best shows to ever grace television) or something like "Tween-light" (makes me a little ill putting those in the same sentence). This couldn't be further from the truth, as the stories about Elise Kavanagh are mind-bending action-horror with just a hint (and I mean just a hint) of romantic bits of the storyline. This has everything from witches, demons, angels, and the superhuman humans that are born to fight all of them. There are also werewolves, which constitute most of the small amount of romance involved here, but the werewolves are extremely bad-ass fighters, so that makes up for everything. Hopping between dimensions, i.e. Heaven, Hell, and Earth is a regular occurrence, and Reine (author) has created a vast and intricate world with an extremely well thought-out mythology for her characters to occupy. I picked up the first three books because they were free, and a couple of weeks later, I've read everything in this series (I haven't read the werewolf books yet) and am eagerly awaiting the next installment. I pray that the conclusion of the Ascension series is not the end for Elise and co., because that would break my heart. Just really well done, and needs to be adapted into graphic novel form, or maybe TV or film. Scratch TV, it's too violent and too much would be lost in the translation. So please, do yourself a favor, if you like dark fantasy with a strong female lead character, ignore the silly cover art and read these books. The first three are free for now, so what do you have to lose?

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Intense is an Understatement 29 décembre 2013

I received Caged in Bone in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This series is not for the faint of heart. Wow! I expected an intense book, none of them have been light and fluffy, but this installment took that intensity to a whole new level. I’m not quite sure where to start and I’m positive that I won’t come close to doing the book justice, but here it goes…

Everyone is still in recovery mode when Caged in Bone opens. The pack is trying to get back to normal, at least as normal as things can be when they don’t know when the next attack is coming or even where it’s coming from. They’re all dealing with their grief and rapidly changing world in their own way. Unsurprisingly, some are dealing better than others.

Caged in Bone covered a lot of ground. More than one character’s POV was given and not a moment was wasted with any of them. They all had their own personal battles going on and their interactions with each other were more tense than in any book in this series so far. Decisions were made that were more often than not the wrong ones, but for the right reasons. I felt like shaking more than one of them throughout Caged in Bone.

This is a book that you need to be in the right frame of mind to read. Mainly because you need to pay attention to every detail. I might have to go back and read a few sections again before the next book is released. If you’ve been following the series, you know how complicated just Elise’s background is. Caged in Bone makes her history even more intricately woven with other characters. Some of those connections I should have noticed before. Some of them were expected and some of them totally floored me.

There were also more than a few twists and turns. Some characters made some painful discoveries and lives – once again – were left dangling precariously – emotionally and physically. There were also some smexy moments between a couple (kind of) unexpected characters.

It’s been a while since I’ve become this emotionally invested in a group of characters. I care about them and want to see things turn around for all of them – as impossible as that may seem right now. I’ve even started to gain a new respect for a few of the characters that I’ve wanted to hate. That, along with a very long list is what has put this author on my auto-read list. I’ve even forgiven her for the now expected cliff hanger. Yes, the intensity lasted until the very last page… in this case, the very last sentence. It’s a good thing that S.M. Reine writes fast

Oh man, this is intense. Everyone is still trying to deal with losses and changes. And with the demons attacking everywhere, people are on their toes. Things are pretty crazy and everyone suspicious of everyone else. Abel's gone, Riley's freaking, Elise is having complications. Things are getting serious and you know the big one's coming just not when and from where.

Elise has a lot on her plate. And you're learning more about her past, and how that past can come back and bit you in the ass. :) And the plot surrounding her twists and will leave you stunned.

I'm still hoping for James to die horribly. And I hope one day Elise may leave her niceness for a minute to do it. Painfully. But at least James is getting something. But his power hungry mode is ruining not just one world but multiple.

This one is still action packed and full of heart wrenching moments. I have come to obsess Ms Reine's writing. I need it. I love this series. I've loved her other series too, but this one is taking it to a whole new level. I can't wait to see what's gunna happen now!! 5 PAWS!!

Just bought this, have not read it yet but I wanted to leave a note to ask future reviewers not to write spoilers... even if something really shocking happens. Someone wrote a big fat spoiler for the book before last in the first sentence of their review and still hasn't taken it out. It is still catching people unawares, which is understandably upsetting and annoying.

Thank you SM Reine for writing so fast...I know it's going to be so awesome that I'm going to try resist reading it till Christmas as my present to myself.

Happy reading everyone x
