About the author
Professor Grogan began real estate practice in 1974 as a sales associate before owning two Century 21 franchise residential offices. After closing 100 escrows in the first 30 months of sales, the GRI designation was earned in 1977, and the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) in 1979. Having earned two Bachelor degrees, one in Business and one in Real Estate and Finance, D. Grogan receiving the Master's degree from California Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1985. Author of a property management college text based on the findings obtained from the Master's Thesis on property management training and education, Dr. Grogan earned the Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation in 1985. D. Grogan completed the Pepperdine doctorate degree in 2000 with the oral defense and dissertation on the Real Estate Assistant. Dr. Grogan currently serves in the full-time position at El Camino College in Torrance, California as Real Estate Professor and program Coordinator. As an instructor of real estate courses since 1980 at many community colleges: Cerritos, El Camino, Glendale, Mt. San Antonio, Rio Hondo and Saddleback; and instructor at three Universities: Woodbury, California State Los Angeles, and California Polytechnic Pomona, Professor Grogan contributes more than a finance degree, with practical application and student feedback infused into text content. Additional contributions to the field of real estate include serving as an officer and director for the California Real Estate Educator's Association (CREEA); serving on numerous committees for the Real Estate Education Center, including conference planning committee, frequent conference presenter, curriculum committee, state study guide reviewer and continuing education course author; and, serving on, the Real Estate Commissioner's special education committee, and State Exam Review Committee.
