Présentation de l'éditeur

Spin-off book in the Addicted series | Book #1 in the Calloway Sisters series

This New Adult Romance can be described as Friends meets The Real World. Expect fist fights, drugs, sex of varying degrees, crude humor and competitive alpha males. Definitely for mature audiences only.

Virgin. Sex addict. Daredevil. Alcoholic. Smartass ... Jackass. Her five friends are about to be filmed. Reality TV, be prepared.

Rose Calloway thought she had everything under control. At twenty-three, she's a Princeton graduate, an Academic Bowl champion, a fashion designer and the daughter of a Fortune 500 mogul. But with a sex addict as a sister and roommate, nothing comes easy.

After accepting help from a producer, Rose agrees to have her life filmed for a reality television show. The Hollywood exec is her last chance to revive her struggling fashion line, and boundaries begin to blur as she's forced to make nice with a man who always has his way.

Twenty-four-year-old Connor Cobalt is a guy who bulldozes weak men. He's confident, smart-as-hell and lives with his equally ambitious girlfriend, Rose Calloway. Connor has to find a way to protect Rose without ruining the show. Or else the producer will get what Connor has always wanted--Rose's virginity.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 WOW! MIND BLOWN 23 janvier 2014

This is a standalone book and is a spinoff from the Addicted series. If you haven't read the series, no worries. You don't need to have read it in order to read this one. However, I do urge you to read it in order to get the full effect of the awesome-ness that is Kiss the Sky.

WOW WOW WOW. Mind: Blown.

I had some pretty big expectations for this book and let me tell you, Krista & Becca Ritchie did not disappoint! I have to admit, I think this is the best that they have written so far. And that's saying a lot for me since I am completely obsessed with the Addicted series! To say that I think I might like the spinoff better...well...that's just blasphemy.

Great points about this book:

1. It's a standalone (as I've mentioned before)
2. No insta-love
3. Solid relationship (and I mean solid as a rock)
4. No cliffhangers at the end
5. No cheating
6. No love triangle
7. Lots of laughs (as well as tears)

Bad points:
.... Well.... honestly, I really have none to list.

Here, I thought the story couldn't get any better than Lily and Lo's (from the Addicted series). I love being proved wrong :)

Rose + Connor = perfection. Damn these two are a powerhouse couple!

“They belong together the way books fit in a library.”

In the Addicted series, you don't get to see much of Rose and Connor. In Addicted to You (Addicted #1), Rose came off as a stuck up, spoiled, cold-hearted, bitch (in my opinion).

"Rose frightens children, pets, and even grown males with her icy eyes and chilling glares."

Connor also came off as stuck up but at least he didn't seem cold-hearted. I thought this was a good (and funny) quote of Connor in Addicted to You:

"I sincerely think that Connor is asexual. Like a sponge. He probably wouldn't even notice if you [Lily] hit on him."

Rose and Connor together were described as "two asexual people bonding together–a once in a lifetime happening." I mean, they were basically viewed by the other characters as robots.

But through the series, we see more and more of Rose and Connor. We come to realize that Rose is quite possibly THE BEST sister anyone could have. She will go to the ends of the earth (even sacrifice her own life) for her sisters. In Kiss the Sky, we get to see inside Rose's head and we find out just how caring and loving she is, despite the tough exterior that she puts on.

Then, there's Connor. To me, it was thrilling to see Connor change from the beginning to the end. I loved being inside his head because he was such an enigma in the Addicted series. In Kiss the Sky, we're given a glimpse of his childhood to show how he came to be the man that he is. And as the story progresses, we witness how he changes. How being with Rose turns some of his views askew and makes him question some of his major beliefs. I was pleasantly surprised by Connor. I'm a Ryke fan myself, but I fell in love with Connor in this book (I fell even more in love with Ryke and Lo too, but that's beside the point). I just couldn't help it!

For all the Lily & Loren lovers, there is plenty of them in this book. Much more so than I expected; in fact, it made me miss them a lot, especially when Lily was being her goofy self. There was one chapter when I was just laughing non-stop. Loved the banter between all 6 main characters. And just as in the Addicted series, anytime there's a scene that involves the 3 guys, you can pretty much expect some laughs.

I am also looking forward to reading Daisy and Ryke's story in Hothouse Flower (to be released Mar 2014)! Yet another spinoff from the Addicted series. I'm really interested in and can't wait to see what's going to happen between these two!!

I found a lot of parts in this book just ridiculously funny! Even Rose was funny! Who knew Rose could be funny?! But there were also a couple of parts where I was just a blubbering mess. Krista & Becca definitely know how to pull on my heartstrings. The ending had my chest swelling. My heart was literally beating out of my chest! My head is still spinning.

Everyone is in for a treat! So, get ready to laugh your socks off and cry your eyes out! Kiss the Sky solidifies my desire to read every single book by Krista & Becca Ritchie! Love them to no end!!

Kiss the Sky
Krista & Becca Ritchie

If I had a book boyfriend it would be Richard Connor Cobalt (sigh). I have loved his appearance in every one of the Addicted Series and now that he has his own story I am not disappointed. In fact I’m so turned on I’ll need to be careful not to give anything away accidently…
Rose Calloway wants to fix everything and everyone; she shoulders enormous responsibilities from her company Calloway Couture and her fracturing family. She also feels responsible for her two sisters’ Lily who is trying to recover from sex addiction and 17 yr. old Daisy who still lives with their controlling bitchy mother. Rose has issues too, but Connor has always been up to the task of handling them and in KtS I was not disappointed! Rose thought filming a reality show would help her sister’s reputation and her own bottom line in the business world would improve as a plus. She just didn’t count on the scumbag producer she would have to deal with daily throwing obstacles in her path (must read to find out).
Of course everyone knows Rose is one of the few 23 yr. olds that still hold her V card:) Again let me reiterate Connor is Hot, Hot, Hot, and he loves to handle Rose. He does this with both intelligence and strength but she has already left him once and he won’t take that chance again. In KtS Connor is forced to step up his game with Rose because of a forced triangle (again must read) To take risks with Rose that he might not have but it was so sexy and exciting and did I mention HOT. I don’t want to spoil anything but if you follow my reviews any hint of dom/sub sexual events are going to do it for me:) especially with Connor in the bed!!! Or Shower!!!
Throughout KtS Daisy has become more outspoken and brazen. There is an underlining tension and relationship with Ryke that is screaming to be told even though after Kiss the Sky I’m almost afraid to read it lol. Let’s just say the ending of KtS was a surprise to me and I’m all about the romance but that particular twist was Connor Worthy… For all those Addicted Fans this book is a drop everything and READ NOW; if you’ve never read any of the Addicted Series go ahead and READ this book, seriously it was just so much FUN to read.

"People hope to touch the sky.
I dream of kissing it."

I f***ing loved this book. I want to climb up some tall building and scream from the rooftops that I F***ING LOVED THIS BOOK!! And yes, this is my very first, well-deserved, 6 star rating of the year!

I literally finished Kiss the Sky the day after I got the ARC (which I may or may not have squealed over). It was non-stop reading for me after that-the book is quite long, but every page zips by so fast and I never wanted it to end. I'm so not the type to slow down a savor a book-I pretty much devoured Kiss the Sky! And holy hell, what a wild ride this book is. I already loved Connor and Rose from Lily and Lo's books, but Krista and Becca Ritchie managed to make me fall even more in love with them, if that's even possible! Seriously, I can't even think of Connor without swooning and squealing over him. He's perfection. And Rose? I have a total girl crush on her. These two characters could not be more perfect for each other, and I loved loved loved reading their story.

Rose and Connor are supporting characters in the Addicted series, but they finally get to take the spotlight in Kiss the Sky. I've never read a series where the secondary characters are so engrossing to read about, but Connor and Rose are just so... intense. They take up so much space in the Addicted series, if that makes sense. Even though they're supporting characters, they have so much presence in the books, and now that they're the main characters, everything about them intensifies. Rose and Connor are extraordinary people. It's not just their brains, but to be honest, they're really the smartest people I've ever read about. They're intelligence is off the charts, and I have to admit, intelligence is such a turn-on for me. So, Connor? Yeah, I was swooning and sighing madly.

It's really their hearts that endeared them the most to me. With Rose, we easily see how much she cares for and loves her little sisters. She is the backbone for her sisters, the one who holds up everyone and everything together. Yes, she's bitchy, but she's strong and confident and smart and assertive and ambitious. She's the top-dog, a total alpha-female, and I loved her!

"I'd choose to die if it meant my sisters could live. You think it's stupid, but sometimes love is worth every foolish choice you make."

And I loved seeing the more vulnerable sides to Rose, the sides that she only shows to Connor, or at least that only Connor notices. The new reality show and her clothing line are taking a toll on Rose. At the beginning of the book, Rose hires some TV production people to film a reality TV show of her and her family and friends to boost her clothing line, which took a hit after Lily's sex addiction was exposed to the public. And the man in charge of the reality show, Scott, is a slime-ball who wants to be the one to take Rose's virginity. Ugh, I hated Scott. HATED him. Rose and Connor do too, since from day one, Scott makes life hell for the both of them. Scott is a horrible person, and the authors have created an incredible antagonist in him.

Connor knows that Scott wants Rose, and... Connor won't let Scott take Rose away from him. Rose is his, completely and undeniably, just as he is hers. I loved reading more in depth about the relationship between Connor and Rose. From Lily and Lo's POVs, we got that Rose and Connor are perfect matches and are meant for each other, but we don't see the love between them, not really. But Kiss the Sky illuminates that love, a love that is full of fire and passion and need. Connor and Rose go head to head with each other all the time. I loved reading the hilarious banter between them, and most of all, I loved how they support and just get each other. They bring out not only the best, but the most out of each other.

"He makes me believe that anything is possible. I don't think I'll ever find someone quite like Connor Cobalt."

Rose has been holding on to her V-card, and in Kiss the Sky, we see the growth and development of her newfound sexuality. And let me just say, Rose and Connor (AHHH CONNOR!! <3) are HOT HOT HOT HOOOOOT!!! God, I seriously needed to fan myself while reading. We know these two are already intense people, so it's no surprise that they're intense in bed as well. I'm literally grinning to myself right now as I remember how freaking hot the sex between Rose and Connor is. Heehee.

So you all know I fell even more in love with Connor in KTS, right? Besides the fact that he's super-crazy-holy-hell-I-wish-this-man-was-real HOT, there's so much depth to him that I was so happy to learn more about. He's with Rose, but he's incapable of love. He knows it, but Rose believes and hopes otherwise. Connor is a very critical, analytical man, and believing in love goes against every fiber of his being, and yet... he's learned to care about Rose. About Lily and Lo and even Daisy. As for Ryke, well, Connor and Ryke don't exactly get along (there's tons of laugh-out-loud hilarious conversations/arguments between these two all the time), but Connor does grow fond of him eventually (hurray for the bromance between Connor/Lo/Ryke!).

"I mouth, Don't f*** with me. These five people mean more to me than words can express. I've never once felt like I had a real family.
But with them, I know I do."

The BEST part about reading Kiss the Sky (besides the sexy, sweet love between Connor and Rose) is learning about how Connor has a heart. He has a real, live, beating, caring heart. He's not the same unfeeling, manipulative man we met from Addicted to You. Through Rose and her love for him, Connor recognizes in himself his own capacity for love. And oh gosh, oh gosh, I just can't even handle the sweet words this man says!

"But Rose is at the epicenter of my world, whether I allow myself to love her or not."

Kiss the Sky is just the. best. I applaud Krista and Becca on the impeccable writing, and for creating Connor. (Connor is To. Die. For.) Be prepared for some serious laughs, some hot-as-hell sex, a LAP DANCE *grins* and a beautiful, heartwarming romance that will make you smile and laugh and cry. KTS has become one of my all-time favorite books ever, and I recommend everyone read it.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 One of the best books I have ever read 26 avril 2014

Wow, I need to get my hands on the Addicted Series right now. While I don’t think anyone can top Conner and Rose for me, I also grew to love Lily and Lo in this book. Ryke too! So I can’t wait to read all of their stories. Conner and Rose are IT for me though. I just can’t get enough of them. I don’t even know where to start with everything that I loved about them and this book. I loved Rose and Conner individually, and their dynamic together. I am crazy about the writing, and the plot. All of it is just so smart and witty. Let me put it this way- not only is Kiss the Sky going on my favorites list of 2014. It is one of my favorite books OF. ALL. TIME.

Rose is the oldest Calloway sister and I just lurve her. She is such a strong and smart woman. She will not hesitate to kick a guy in the balls if he annoys her both figuratively and literally. I love how strong and determined she is, but for me her most interesting aspect was in her fragilities. The things that she was scared of; the things that she worked so hard to conceal about herself. Everyone labeled her as the “witch” in the group, but to me she was anything but that. I loved all of her inconsistencies. And the only thing I loved more than Rose was Conner. Conner and Rose really get each other. Better than any one else on the planet. The book is told through both of their point of views, and to see how spot on they were with how the other was acting or feeling was a bit scary at times. It was incredible really.

Conner is the perfect guy for me, scratch that- I completely meant Rose. He is the perfect guy for Rose. I loved how protective he was of her, and how much he respected her. I thought they were hilarious and wonderful together. I loved all of their text games, and I loved how they challenged each other. Conner just demands respect and attention, and that is completely hot of him. I couldn’t get enough Conner. Everything about him just works for me. I want him all to myself all the time. I would be happy to fight with him and make up with him. Anything he wants. He is exactly the kind of Alpha that I like.

I am a bit of a reality show junkie, so I enjoyed that the setting of Kiss the Sky was during the filming of a reality show. I thought it was pretty cool how we got to see some of the editing of the show by production. I wish Rose would have kicked Scott a few times, maybe maimed up his face a bit. I hate him so much, and I was so beyond happy to see how strong Rose and Conner remained as a couple throughout the book, no matter what Scott did. Even though Rose and Conner stole the show for me, I can’t wait to read the Addicted series and Lily and Lo’s story. Kiss the Sky can be read as a complete standalone but technically, Lily and Lo’s story in the addicted series happened first. I am going to read every single one of the other books because Krista and Becca Ritchie have so thoroughly impressed me with their writing, their characters and their sheer talent for telling a story. They have made me an instant mega fan of theirs. I must read everything they have written.

Bottom Line: If you have not read Kiss the Sky yet, YOU NEED TO. Right away. Heck, I think you should put down whatever book you are reading at the moment and pick up Kiss the Sky. You will thank me for it. And then come find me and we can gush about Conner.

*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.

I loved Rose and Connor as supporting characters in Lily and Lo's stories. Their intelligence, affection and sharp banter were great, but I was apprehensive as supporting characters don't always translate well in their own stories. There are some MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

What worked for me:

** I loved how committed Rose and Connor were to each other. There was no stupid love triangle or miscommunications that made them run from each other. They leaned on each other and learned to really trust.

** The relationships between the six of them (Lo, Lily, Connor, Rose, Daisy, Ryke) were, as always, great fun to read. There were plenty of LOL moments, as well as sweet ones.

** I got to see a more vulnerable side to both Rose and Connor. I loved how fiercely protective they were to their friends and family.

What didn't work for me:

** The whole Dom/sub sex thing. Isn't this plot device getting a little tired? I don't think it fit with the characters. Rose being ok with wearing a collar? Is there some rule that nice guys aren't allowed in NA books? They have to be Doms, or bad boys, or total douchebags.

** The sex tape and the reaction/aftermath. No way does it make sense that they would drop the lawsuit and let Scott get away with everything. No way do I believe that Rose's parents would drop it. No way do I believe that public reaction would be that accepting. And no way to I believe that Rose and Connor would be that calm about it.

So, those two things that didn't work for me made me like the book a lot less than I hoped. I am looking forward to reading more about Lily and Lo, and will go back to liking Rose and Connor as supporting characters.
