Descriptions du produit

Castle Mango is a `love hotel` where couples pay by the hour and have the room to themselves to have `fun`. Yorozu is now a young business owner, inheriting the building from his late father. Everything was going fine until Togame, a good-looking gay guy and adult video filmmaker, starts shooting the film in his building. Togame thinks Yorozu is an actor for his film, and tries to pull his pants down! He can't stand his crudeness! Now, he's on to his little brother! Togame eventually agrees to stay away from Yorozu's brother, but there's a catch - and it's not something Yorozu is going to like.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 My kind of manga 1 juin 2012

I was especially excited about the release of this manga because I enjoy Konohara Narise's story telling and Ogura Muku's art, so I thought their combination would create a great read. I was not disappointed.

Togame, the adult video film maker, and Yorozu, the high school student who works in a love hotel, clash with each other due to their own presumptions about the other's character. Yorozu distrusts Togame because of his occupation and the fact that he is gay, while Togame views Yorozu as a brat. However, over the course of this volume, they gradually begin to learn more about each other.

Volume 1 is where both characters get closer together from being, well, complete strangers, so they have not had sex yet. Also, Yorozu is not 18 yet, and Togame, despite assumptions, is a responsible adult and doesn't force him into it. The relationship between Togame and Yorozu develops slowly, and by the end of the volume, there are many things unsaid between them that have to be confronted.

One interesting thing that I think will be a problem later on is Yorozu's motive for starting a relationship with Togame. This is something I definitely want to see addressed in volume 2.

Overall, it is a beautifully portrayed manga. I recommend it to readers who enjoy slow-pace story line with gradually developing relationships.

I had reservations about this book and took some time before I actually bought it. BL has a tendency to rely on formulaic plots which in turn become stale and offer few, it any, surprises to the reader. So when I opened my package this was the last title I read. And it was the first one I re-read as well. The art inside the book is just as lovely as the art on the cover, if not better. I enjoy the facial expressions the artist is able to draw and the attention to detail. The backgrounds are not stale or rudimentary but full little details (case in point the apt. complex).
The author of these characters has done an amazing job of exploring complex human emotions. Both characters carry a lot of baggage and the story's pacing has allowed to see some growth. It is not often in this genre that the characters get to know one another and fall in love before getting physical, but this volume does a nice job doing just that.
At the end of this volume I'm left with more questions than answers and so I await the second volume. I'm surprised June decided to license this ongoing series when it only has one volume released in Japan, but I am happy they did. The book itself has no color insert ( June only does those for the Finder series ) but the paper is of very good quality. Keep it up June, we readers are growing older and appreciate the titles we read to evolve with us.

Narise Konohara is my among my favorite BL authors and I've always been impressed by Muku Ogura's works; so for me, they're kind of like a divine duo. I love Castle Mango! It's pretty high up on my list of favorite BL. I wouldn't call this the ultimate BL manga or anything though, but it's pretty damn good read. Yorozu's and Togame's relationship is pretty slow moving for a "yaoi manga" I guess, but most of the BL manga I like are like that. Castle Mango has a plot, it has a point, and it has a meaning. So, I'd only recommend this to people who prefer stories like this over the ones where the main couple do it in the 1st chapter and every page is covered in illustrations of butt sex.

Btw, Castle Mango is the sequel to Konohara sensei's novel River's End. It probably very loosely related. I get the feeling River's End is about Togame's brother, but I'm not sure because I haven't read it. I don't think they have it in English. Just hoping it'll be translated someday. Castle Mango is nonetheless enjoyable.

SPOILERS (kinda)
I've finished this volume and Yorozu and Togame haven't actually done it yet so I'm not really even sure this is a yaoi manga. It's a lot more sexual than shounen-ai though. Perhaps it'd be more accurate to call it shounen-ai smut? Idk. Look foreword to a cliff-hanger ending. I'm still agonizing over it...
