A Remarkable Synthesis of Psychoanalytic Therapy and Neuroscience 31 mai 2013
Par blueskies - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
This book was a remarkable in that it is both well written and beautifully illustrated with art from the author's psychoanalytic patients. Her focus is upon early childhood trauma and the use of Jungian therapy to help resolve those issues. She uses the latest research in brain science to explore why and how this works. The underpinnings of psychoanalytic theory are clearly supported by the most recent neuroscience. It is Jung and Freud explained by brain structure and MRIs. Not only is it well researched but her case studies are remarkable. My only regret is that she practices in Great Britain and therefore I probably cannot meet her. I found this an enlightening book and very applicable for a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients who have experienced unresolved early traumatic issues. It is not an easy read because there is so much scientific support for her practice of psychoanalysis. However, the use of patient and supervisor case studies does much to deepen the explanation of the practice. This book deserves to be widely read and applied in the fields of therapy and physical medicine.

Best book in understanding the power of the right brain and the relational model of healing in therapy 14 avril 2013
Par Meerkatsrock - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié Achat vérifié
Although I've never written a review before, I was so moved, informed and appreciative of the author's interdisciplinary efforts to explain what heals and changes in therapy, that I am extolling its praise. I am a therapist, and I went to a workshop of hers which was good enough. But the book does far more in modeling and integrating so much of the art and science of psychotherapy. This may be the most transformative reading I have done professionally. This book brought so many bits together without jargon but with a clarity and tenderness, that I feel like a better therapist and a better person because of it.

Best read in paper form 29 avril 2014
Par Philip E Bartow - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle Achat vérifié
Lots of points to ponder. I read it on my Kindle...which is not the way to go on scholarly efforts..no place for sticky tabs and notes in margins or underlining for quick reviews. For a research effort I am involved in I will need to buy a regular book version.
Exceptional exploration of brain function in the therapeutic relationship 27 décembre 2013
Par Ralph's mother - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Relié Achat vérifié
A solid explanation of the manner in which the brain responds to therapy and the importance of understanding how each of these activities influence the mechanisms of neurobiology. The brain does not function like an electric switch but has so many subtle and not so subtle influences for the manner in which it influences behavior, emotions and growth. This book helps to make the process of change in therapy more understandable.
A Must for any therapist dealing with trauma victims 9 décembre 2013

Excellent book: academic with important information, written clearly and well-organized. The writer uses syntheses from different therapies. Should be required reading in all psychotherapy courses.
