"In the beginning..." Sjoerd Bonting, scientist and Anglican priest, explores an alternative to the idea that God created the universe out of nothing at all. Instead, looking at Genesis 1, he explores the implications of God's creation out of 'chaos:' when "the earth was without form and void." But some of that origianal chaos remains, which consequences for both morals and disease.
About the author
Sjoerd L. Bonting was born in Amsterdam in 1924. He studied biochemistry at the University of Amsterdam (Ph.D 1952). In the US he worked at the State University of Iowa, the University of Minnesota, and the University of Illinois. He has been section chief of the National Institues of Health (NIH), and a cosultant for NASA at Ames Research Center, Mountain View, California, for preparation of biological research on the International Space Station. Dr. Bonting was ordained as an Anglican priest in 1964 at the Washington Cathedral. He has writes and lectures extensively on science and theology, with 363 scientific papers and eight book editing credits to his name.
