À recommander aux fans du grand Ray Charles qui manient l'art du piano!

At times, the editor takes much pain in presenting the piano parts as actually played and some of Ray's funky uses of chord formations shines through wonderfully as in most of his earlier Atlantic recordings. Sometimes, you'll have to do some searching to find out which recording the music is being based on. "You Don't Know Me" is a perfect example where they've chosen to include the piano part from his duets record and not the original.. I'm not even sure if he was the piano player on that cut! But, you have to give the books a lot of credit for providing some essential untouched Charles playing like on "Mess Around". Hence the high rating of the book.
Another book that seems out of print is much more accurate with direct transcriptions from his records. But it's an import and can be quite costly, even used.
I do hope this volume sells well because if used properly, it can at times be a wonderful window into Ray's "mashing" of notes from his Atlantic years and even when not completely accurate, the voicing of his arrangements stay pretty faithful.
Certainly worth it for serious players and those who are privy to the recordings they're based from.
One unhappy camper!
I don’t know what else I can say. If you can play, Like Ray…….well, what I say……it’s A OK
