Ce commentaire fait référence à cette édition : Charles Maurras (Broché)
There can be little denying that what Bruno Goyet has attempted in this volume is anything other than a worthwhile, even long overdue re-evaluation of the bibliographical historiography of Charles Maurras which demonstrates that the 'old dichotomy' - the continued acceptance of the distinction between Maurras the politician and Maurras the writer - is a spurious hindrance that effectively prevents us achieving a greater understanding of Maurras the man - the complex and whole man. Whatever the reasons may be for maintaining loyalty to this distinction, or 'caricature', Goyet's implication is that it has led to the construction, re-construction and reinforcement of a critical methodology that is more intent on transforming subjective truths into objective ones - effectively rewriting history, and obstructing the development of an analytical method that will permit an examination of Maurras that does not begin and end with Action Française.Goyet's purpose is not to rehabilitate Maurras - this is no hagiography proposing that he be placed upon the pantheon of French literature or philosophy, nor is it an apologia for his anti-semitic nationalism. His sympathy for his subject is apparent, but, despite the title, this subject is not so much 'Charles Maurras' as much as it is a critique of the development and acceptance of ideologically bound subjectivity. On the former theme, this book is a welcome addition to the secondary literature on Charles Maurras inasmuch as it portrays him in a way that has not been attempted before, and which is long overdue. It is on the latter theme, however, that this book displays its true value, and serves a timely reminder against the perils of academic complacency and the acceptance of established notions simply because they are so.
