Présentation de l'éditeur

Runners will love these inspirational stories about their sport -- the camaraderie, the self-discipline, the energy and endorphins they enjoy, the self-discovery. Includes stories on swimming and cycling for triathletes too.

When runners aren't running, they are talking about running, planning their next run, shopping for running... This book contains 101 stories from everyday and famous runners... telling their stories to other runners... about how running has improved their lives, recovering from injuries, challenging themselves, and includes amazing stories of marathons, camaraderie, and the natural high that comes from this popular sport. Plenty of stories for triathletes too, covering swimming and cycling. --Ce texte fait référence à l'édition Broché .

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Inspirational Stories for anyone 23 juillet 2010

Okay so I am not a runner, not even close, but I did think this book was motivating, interesting, and fun to read. The stories are all true stories from elite Olympians to casual joggers, who run great distances, average distances, or are just starting out. There is also a whole chapter on triathlons. Some of the stories include: Runners World's Mark Remy, U.S. National Team marathoner Josh Cox, Amputee Lindsay Nielsen, and a man declared brain dead! These stories really made me realize the dedication some people have and how it is important to do something, for these people it is running. I personally liked reading the stories for the new runners, since they are not to far from the point I am at right now. Overall, I would say this is a good book for anyone in sports since it is inspirational stories of "energy, endurance, and endorphins" all of which athletes face everyday. Whether you are a casual exerciser or sports player or professional, the stories are inspiring.

I am an avid runner and was looking forward to reading this book. It is the first book of the series "chicken soup" that I read. I love the book. It has a variety of different stories from different types of people ranging from the beginner runner to the serious amateur runner to the olympic athlete and the ultra-marathoner.

It is truly inspiring to read about what humans are capable of. It makes me want to go for a run and push my limits a little more every time I read this book. It can also be emotional at times. I have found myself crying about the ending of story while reading at the rink during my son's hockey game.... a little bit embarassing but all the more worth it because it reaches your deepest feelings.

I highly recommend this book.

I have a few friends that have completed marathons and I am in awe. They are toned, disciplined, in shape and overall feel fantastic about themselves and the limits they push their bodies. They are so not like me!!
But for a brief glimpse of time because of the Chicken Soup for the Soul - Runners book...I was able to see what "their" world was like.
Chicken Soup for the Soul books has an incredible way to highlight the very essence of their themes. They are able to illustrate the highs and lows of the life of a runner in this particular case.
While I don't ever see myself becoming a runner (of course, you should never say never)...I was deeply moved by the personal stories of triumph, determination and do-it spirit.
As always...another hit from Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Great read. Inpsirational stories to make you want to get out and run if your a runner or a non-runner. Great stories for runners that let us know we are not alone on the roads. Recommend any runner to pick this up.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Is it OK to read the whole thing in one sitting? 3 octobre 2011

I'm familiar with the Chicken Soup in name only, and never really thought it was anything special (despite the sales totals) I bought this because 1) I run, and 2) my spirit has been under quite the heavy load as of late.

I thoroughly expected to be mostly bored by the stories and anecdotes-- I was not. I literally had to force myself to put it down and save some for later.

It's not like some earth shattering, instant epiphany inducing text; but, it is good enough. And for 99.99% of life: "good enough" is just enough to be enough.
