NOT SURPRISED! 23 décembre 2011
Par Leslie - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
Let me clarify the title of my review, NOT SURPRISED. I mean that I am NOT SURPRISED that this, too is an excellent book by one of my favorite authors. As always, Scott Nicholson delivers! It is very hard for me to give any book a 5-star review. That can be very misleading & deceiving, and puts my own reputation on the line. However, for the book CHRONIC FEAR, I have no reservations rating this book (and the author) with 5 "GOLDEN" stars! I have been following Scott Nicholson since I read his book, TRANSPARANT LOVERS" which was free on my Kindle last summer...and I have been hooked ever since. I do not want to compare Scott Nicholson to other authors, as I see other reviewers have done, because I do not think that is fair to him. He is in a league all his own, and deserves no bias or comparisons, based on someone who would then be expecting him to write like someone else. Do yourself a favor, and order CHRONIC FEAR for your Kindle or Nook. It will be an excellent read while you are home for the weekend...if it even takes you that long to get through the book, as you probably won't be able to put the book down!

Books are called Sequels for a Reason 5 avril 2012
Par iGertrude - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Broché Commentaire client Vine pour produit gratuit ( De quoi s'agit-il? )
Get a few research scientists, a drug making genius, some rogue, or not, CIA agents, a man who wants to be president, a bible spouting fundamentalist, a few more agents from an unknown agency, an artist, a doctor, and put them all together with a drug that unleashes the forces of rage, greed, and naked hunger for power and you end up with a lot of people killing each other. It's impossible to figure out who the good guys are, as there probably aren't any. There are just the evil and the less evil and they all have guns. They all want the formula for the drug, and if not that, then the antidote. Once you've taken the drug, Seethe, the rage never completely leaves, it is only mildly soothed by the antidote.

I found it ironic that while writing about the Monkey House, the writer continually wrote about all of the passions, the passions beyond human endurance that these characters survived, but in this book, they all seem rather bloodless, flat, uninteresting, incapable of such passion - except the most paranoid and delusional of them. And for the most part, it turned out that he was right.

The most profound problems with this story is that if you haven't read the previous novel, Liquid Fear, then this one takes awhile to make sense of. That is, this is not a stand-alone novel. It can be, but only if you want to suffer.

Loved It! 20 février 2012
Par Darcia Helle - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
This is the perfect follow up to Liquid Fear. We're dropped into a world of power and corruption. Important people want the Halcyon and Seethe experiments completed. Others want the entire debacle erased. The survivors of the drug trial are rebuilding their lives, even as they are slowly losing their minds.

The pace is quick and unrelenting. Nicholson gives enough detail from the first book to make this one work as a stand-alone. Still, I'd suggest reading Liquid Fear first in order to get the full impact.

Eagerly Anticipated Follow-Up 24 décembre 2011
Par Bookhound - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle
There are few books that I've looked forward to more than Nicholson's follow-up to his exciting thriller Liquid Fear. In Chronic Fear, the stakes are raised and the thrills continue. Nicholson's expert writing pulls the reader in and never lets go. If you enjoy smart, sophisticated thrillers, make sure to read this one.

When Fear Never Ceases....you're reading Scott Nicholson:) 23 décembre 2011
Par Mallory A. Haws Reviews - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format: Format Kindle Achat vérifié
Any devotee of Scott Nicholson knows not to let any new offering pass by un-purchased and unread. Readers of "Liquid Fear" have been anxiously awaiting the sequel, and here it is: "Chronic Fear." Just the title alone gives me shivers! So of course, buying it was my first step, reading as fast as I could turn the pages was the second step.

Put yourself in the shoes of the returning characters: just when they think they escape-there is no escape. Life goes on, but it goes on in torment and torture and fear. And now-there may be a conspiracy behind the conspiracy, one involving the Big Guns-Big Fed and Big Pharma-and power-trippers who care only about expanding their hold on society and culture, regardless of the victims tossed aside carelessly along the way. No, you don't have to be a serial killer to leave tons of victims in your wake (witness Jim Jones) and in "Chronic Fear," the terror is ratcheted up from the first sentence.

Forget what you've heard about praising writers who "bring it on" in Chapter 1; Mr. Nicholson cranks up his engines in Sentence 1, and then he never stops. If you can finish any book by this author without constantly looking over your shoulder and starting at shadows, you're doing better than I. Run, do not walk, to your nearest bookselling outlet and GET "CHRONIC FEAR." Then watch your life change.
