Book Description
Today, hurling has evoled into one of Ireland's most popular sports and represents an integral part of Ireland's rich heritage. The game today is organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (G.A.A.), a voluntary organisation that was founded in 1884.
From the beginning, the G.A.A. attempted to spread the gospel of hurling outside Ireland. Star teams of hurlers were sent abroad to advertise the game and hurling was organised among the many Irish communities around the globe.
This book tells the history of those efforts and how the game was played in the United Kingdom and America, in Argentina and South Africa, in Australia and New Zealand, in fact in any place the Irish settled in substantial numbers. The book is a follow up to A History of Hurling by the same author.
