Présentation de l'éditeur

THE EXPLOSIVE NUMBER ONE BESTSELLING THRILLER...

When Jack Bernstein’s prodigal daughter Lara is killed as a result of the bombing of Flight 320, the chess grandmaster is told that it was simply a terrorist act and that none of the passengers had been specifically targeted. It is a lie.

Having been summoned via a strangely coded message to a meeting with a man referring to himself only as ‘Simon’, Jack is made aware that his daughter had been leaving a lot more than her new life behind. She had also been leaving a secret… one that had been building for centuries and one which a global group of corporations will stop at nothing to protect.

It soon becomes apparent that Lara Bernstein’s life and death had been planned in detail. She was chosen to become part of an ever-expanding group and her selection was a direct result of her father’s company’s near-perfection of the thing they need - true artificial intelligence - computer systems capable of cracking the most complex codal system known to man.

Slowly, Jack Bernstein is being drawn into a global game of chess, one in which he has been an unwitting pawn for over a decade. To keep him in the game they have already killed his wife and now his daughter.

When the game is over, they will kill a whole lot more unless Jack can find the one thing he is reluctant to believe exists…

ONCE THE GAME HAS BEGUN... YOU CAN’T STOP THE CLOCK.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Codex by Adrian dawson 19 août 2010

What a great read, full of pace, twists and excitement, initially I thought with nearly 3000 pages long 'oh no' but it just romps along at break neck speed. What a movie this would make. If you like mystery thrillers you should love this.

This is the second novel I've read by Adrian Dawson (the other being Sequence) and I must say I'm looking forward to more from him. This has an intersting plot involving high technology and religious texts (think high tech Bible Code) along with strong characters and plenty of adventure and intrigue. There are elements that are far-fetched but, hey, its fiction after all. It kept me engaged from beginning to end. Give it a try.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A thriller with depth and bang 1 mars 2011
Par Arthur Piper - Publié sur Amazon.com
Format:Broché
Codex is a cleverly plotted thriller that blends ideas from advanced artificial intelligence with long-held religious beliefs about how secret codes have been hidden in the bible. While the main character - Jack Bernstein - is initially not very likeable, the book draws you (and him) into the murky underground world that surrounds the death of his estranged daughter. There is just enough of an emotional and intellectual tug to bring you to the third way mark, when Dawson really starts cranking up the stakes.

I know that some reviewers have complained that there is too much internal dialogue and not enough action, but I think that Dawson manages that balancing act well. The ideas in the novel are complex and interesting enough to warrant proper examination - and they are woven into the emotional development of the characters convincingly. That level of detail gives the book's ending the excitement, credibility and depth that I personally look for in a thriller.

This is an amazing achievement for a first book and I'd definitely recommend it.

The book has it all to satisfy the hard core geek (Computers, Chess and A.I.)
but it also contains a deep plot, action/adventure complete with religious
fanatics. While this contains many previously used Sci-Fi elements I believe the
assemble to be unique and well written.

When Jack Bernstein's prodigal daughter Lara is killed as a result of the bombing of flight 320, the one time chess Grandmaster is completely unaware that the flight was downed for one reason... to stop his daughter coming home.

Having been summoned via a strangely coded message to a meeting with a man referring to himself only as 'Simon', Jack is made aware that his daughter was leaving a lot more than her new life behind. She was also leaving a secret... one that has been building for centuries and one which a global group of corporations will stop at nothing to protect. It soon becomes apparent that Lara Bernstein's new life was no accident. Lara was selected to become part of an ever-expanding belief and her selection was a direct result of her father's company's near-perfection of the one thing they need - true artificial intelligence, computer systems capable of cracking the most complex codal system known to man.

As With his superb thriller SEQUENCE - Adrian Dawson has proven himself to be at the very top of the thriller genre- creating both characters and plots that literally fly off the page into the reader's consciousness- a rare feat for any writer. Mr Dawson is a writer to not only read- but savor!

Both SEQUENCE AND CODEX ARE MUST READS!!
