This book aims at giving us a handle over ourselves, by using techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy.

The book is well researched, introducing the history and meaning of cognitive behavioral therapy, and presenting its applications for treating anxiety, eating disorders, depression, and substance use disorders.

    I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review. This book is, based on its length, not an exhaustive treatment of CBT. However, it serves its purpose quite well as an introductory, foundational read into this area of knowledge. The fundamentals are what readers of this book will be searching for, and they will not be disappointed. More importantly, reality is accounted for. It is not a theoretical work alone. It ensures that practical reality is addressed by referencing case studies from the real world. Clearly, a good deal of research has gone into this work. For anyone needing a foundational read into CBT, this book is recommended.

    My one and only experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy was about nine years ago while visiting a female counselor with my then-girlfriend. If I'd had this little book with me I would have known what the h*ll she was talking about and my then-girlfriend may have been better prepared to continue with the therapy than she was at that time. A highly informative book that is better presented than most and written by someone that knows their stuff. Recommended.

    My slugs often have mental issues, ranging from anxiety to depression and so have undergone CBT, (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and have found it most useful. Their smiles have returned and they can continue to lead rich and fulfilling lives. This book by Jonny Bell is an excellent starting point, has been well-researched and gives great examples. We're all very impressed and happier in our household for having read this book.

It gives insights to the basics, uses perfect examples how this branch of psychology can help you in your life and how to deal with challenging situations. It is well researched, well written and easy to understand.

If you want to learn how to take control of your life and live it to the best of your abilities, this book would be a good place to start.
