HASH(0x93af1384) étoiles sur 5 Andi Deris solo Project 4 décembre 2001
Par DreamKraken - Publié sur
Format: CD
This is the first solo album of the lead singer of Helloween (from the albums Master of the Rings, The time of the Oath, The Dark Ride and so). Still, the album doesn't sounds like Helloween at all, it's still rock but more melodic, and without the speed factor. Some songs like "Good bye Jenny" and "Now that I know this ain't Love" are very mellow, nice ballads. "1000 miles away" it's pretty amazing and if you check the interviews in the Helloween Official Page, you can see how it has an special meaning behind it.
As always, Deris vocals are incredible, and the whole album it's filled with feeling, it makes something in you tingle with it's rhythm. And the songwriting it's the usual mix that Andi does: at first they sound shallow, but there's a deep and meaningful theme behind the catchy tune.
Production of this album could been better, but that happens to solo projects very often.
Don't be afraid of risking yourself with this album, if you are a fan of Andi's voice, you will love it.

HASH(0x93af13d8) étoiles sur 5 Shades of Pink Cream 69 9 mai 2006

As much as I enjoy Andi Deris's work with Helloween and think he was the perfect choice to replace Michael Kiske, it's good to hear his voice on a melodic rock album again. Deris cut his teeth on this kind of music while a member of Pink Cream 69, and though he's moved on to bigger things, it's obvious he still has a knack for melodic hard rock.

Come in from the Rain, Deris' 1997 solo debut, sounds very similar to those first few Pink Cream 69 releases in that it is very melodic with a harder edge. The songs are well-written, though perhaps not quite as good as Deris's prior collaborations with Dennis Ward. It's a nice mix of ballads and rockers, and oddly enough the slower songs are the ones that really stand out. The album should appeal to most AOR/melodic hard rock fans, and should be particularly appealing to Pink Cream 69 and latter day Helloween fans.

Edition Notes: The Japanese import of Come in from the Rain features one bonus track - "In the Lights of the Sky" - as well as expanded liner notes and a full-color sticker.

Follow-up: I noticed the Pure Metal logo on the obi strip for this album. Since Pure Metal is essentially a Christian label, I took another look at Deris's lyrics. While there is definitely a spiritual element to his songs, they don't appear to be overtly Christian in nature. If they are, they're ambiguous enough not to alienate anyone who's not into that kind of thing. Take that for what it's worth.

I don't know why Andi Deris is so underrated. It's true that he's not Michael Kiske, but he's got an style on his own,and is such a great songwriter,as is proved in this album. Here, you will not listen to your average radio negative nonsense.No.Here,you'll find a kind man full of social concern talking about realities such as the suicide of mistreated children,or murder. But that's not all that you'll find over here.If that was the case, believe me,go and sit down and watch the news on T.V. There are a lot more things on this album to be noticed. The lyrics to "Think Higher!"is not what you listen from a band or a singer to tell you,but it's an encouraging song, and a good choice for an opening track. The title track is kinda a prayer, which reminds us that being rocker doesn't mean that you have to be Satanic.I could go on all night talking about this album, but I think I better stop.Only a few more comments: for those who thought that Deris has not earned a place in Helloween, just check out this CD and you'll find out that he's got more than just enough talent to fill in the place that the greatest voice in metal left. With this,Mr. Deris proved to be a decent singer, and a really talented songwriter.Enjoy it!

I expected more reviews from this album since Deris is the lead singer in Helloween but apparently no one knows about this album or hardly people like him. This album is a solid melodic record. Very good songs, Andi is a very excellent singer, especially in the melodic side. This album was cool cause I bought and received the poster and it was good.

Songs for me that standout: "Now That I No This Ain't Love, House of Pleasure, 1000 Years Away, Could I Leave Forever".

Great rockin' cd that reminds me of DC Cooper's solo album. I didn't care for Deris with Helloween but dig him with PC69 and on his own.
