The latest Tom Clancy's work "Command Authority" is another of his excellently written stories. The characters as usual are rich and well developed and Jack Ryan came out in this series even more adept and lovable. The story also flows in a smooth manner making the divergent nature of the setting easy to relate to and even easier to grasp. And he reveals the plot in a dose by dose manner that sucks the reader more and more into the story with every new chapter read, which brings to mind Janvier Chando's "Triple Agent Double Cross". The narration in "Command Authority" is also first class. Over all, this is a breath-taking story.

As once before, Clancy is unbelievably close to real current events in this story, which runs a bit too close for comfort to events now happening in Ukraine.
This is much better than the recent books with various terrorists or unlikely hackers, the Russians have always made good baddies in Clancy's world.
It is a shame though that a lot of the engrossing parts of his earlier books were the myriad sub-sub-plots, sweeping diplomatic actions, and then military operations on a large scale. Here a lot of that is replaced by oh-so-convenient coincidences, and a few commando raids... It doesn't hold one's interest quite as much.
